Jetpack buckle tutorial (how to remove the "U.S. Divers logo")

This Tutorial shows how I removed the "U.S. Divers logo" and made the line visible on the edge of the buckle.
First take your sweet U.S. Divers buckle

take some "metal tape" (I got this at work, I think it's for ducting)
and cut to fit

apply the tape & smooth it out

then cut off the excesson the curved part with an X-acto knife.

It's really that simple
here's the new "line"

Has anyone tried to cast a buckle in resin? It wouldn't be functional, but some RnB could fix it up nicely :)

Hmmm. Not resin. The bottom piece has maybe three bends, the top piece maybe the same. I'm thinking laser-cut aluminum sheets, maybe 16 gauge?

ya know, i wouldn't think these buckles would be too difficult to fabricate. i've never seen one open but there's only two pieces to it aren't there? cube if someone got you a cad of the flat buckle, could you get the laser cutter out and maybe work something up out of plastic?

Yeah, I also just got mine and was just as surprised. It looked enormous when I tried just the belt on for fun. But when all suited up, I guess it'll look just right...
