JB Project/ Jetpack Paintjob by slave1pilot

I finally got the jet pack today.
Mrs.slave1pilot brought it home from work tonight.
It was already primered,so I took off the beacon & stabilizer
& painted the first 2 coats of Silver
I'm not gonna post many pics of it yet.
It's just a silver jet pack right now.

Is it me or has the JP been sprayed over the decal? or has the JP have a raised part of the mould to allow for accurate positioning of the decal or paint?

    good eye MoJo.....

MOW just put that on for this one pack, since it is a very "special" pack.
and it's molded into the pack and raised....it's a nice little touch really.

Well now that it's clear, I hope you put some cones or ropes around it so you can find it again.

Great start!!!! Just a friendly suggestion if I may...you might wanna make your stripes a little wider on those thrusters. Should be easy for you to do at this stage before you get going on the weathering. It always looked to me like they go almost to the lip of the thruster.

Love the metal showing through on the spine, and misc other places bro, a very convincing effect for that weathering / damage ! Many people make those spots on their packs with no transitional effect. Your's makes it look like it's really wearing off as it should be. One of the benefits of a true layered paint job.

    Great Job so far man

    Thanx homie
It is the silver paint (metal) showing through. I wet-sanded the green off.
    No topical here, only layered
There are other places where the "metal" shows through. Very hard to pic up with the camera. looks better in person

With that, I'll call it a night.
Gonna do the dark parts on the body tomorrow.
    Stay tuned Fett-Heads

very nice! in a lot of ways i think the ESB pack is harder than the RotJ. Jedi needs a lot of colors and masking and such, but getting the ESB pack to look realistic while being mostly 1 solid mass of color takes a lot of subtle work.

    It's just you.

    The tops are yellow
"Other" reference pics clearly show it as yellow

Re: JB Project/ Jetpack Paintjob by slave1pilot

oh, I thought since I had the Man Of War & the MLC2 jet packs in the same room, I'd snap a pic
I thought it would also be cool to see an ESB next to an ROTJ to show how different the paintjobs actually are
( I feel the ROTJ is more labor-intensive)

    Slave1,

The extra weathering you did looks great.

If I may...Nothing can throw off a great looking paint scheme more than to have silver paint near an actual metal detail like the metal beacon and/or stabilizer. I have in the past applied a rub-n-buff or alclaid lacquer to the thruster nozzle details. It's usually overlooked but It will really pull it all together.
