Its a trap!

No it's really not its just another WIP thread. I have purchased a helmet and a trash can so that I may begin my build. This is going to be done on a budget and hopefully 501st quality. I just finished reading though the 10 year old 18 page trashcan armor thread and I am both inspired and blown away! I know the Sinatra is not that much more expensive, but getting the correct curves and angles on every peace of armor is a battle I do not feel like fighting. I have a trash can already so if this proves difficult than perhaps I will shift my idea. When it comes to the soft parts I plan to make them all myself as well. There are some great tutorials on here and every person I have come across is welcoming and helpful!

So far I have made a Commander Cody, a Jawa, a Tusken Raider, A'Sharad Hett, and Kylo Ren (in progress). I've made sabers blasters and gaffi's I am no stranger to the game we all play however, I built all those things to prepare me and get me ready to put together my dream costume, Boba Fett. I am leaning hard toward ROTJ, but still considering the ESB. My biggest delema is that I love the ROTJ blaster, and I hate the ESB blaster. I would prefer to do the ESB Boba with the ROTJ blaster, but I digress. This will most likely be a slow steady process but hopefully it comes out well. Any input or advise it always welcome!!! I will update this thread as soon as I officially get started.

Made some progress on the helmet tonight!

Mike M. I don't know where the helmet came from it was a Christmas gift from my dad, he said he bought it off eBay.

So yes Uhbif anything off eBay is likely a re-cast and I usually would never support that but being that it was a gift of making the best of it. Hopefully it turns out okay.

Still working it's a slow wip. I want to hone my airbrush skills a little more before I go after the helmet. But I did get my boots and weather them!

And I came up with a pretty good idea for metal toe spikes cheap and easy. It costs 1 aluminum rod, your wife's best eyeliner sharpener, and a couple nights on the couch.

I started with the sharpener in the vise.

I then started to sharpen the rod by hand but I really didn't want to be there all night.

So I cut a section off the rod and stuck it in my drill. Way faster and less hand crampy.

If you go slow you can get pretty good consistent results.

They even have a spun machined look.

*Disclaimer I would not try this with anything other than wood or aluminum. A metal sharpener you can rightly clamp down is a must for aluminum!*

That's awesome, I did mine the same way with a plastic rod years back, never thought of trying to sharpen aluminum.

Thank you! I really wanted metal but I couldn't figure out how to make them. I was about to buy some already made when I realized hey maybe a pencil sharpener will work aluminum is pretty soft!

The toe plate and spikes are on their way to being complete. I drilled out the dent in the front of the spikes and then mocked it up on the boot. I think the toe plate needs to be a bit longer what are your thoughts?
