Interest in rubber toe spikes?

So, is there any interest in rubber toe spikes?

I built metal ones, and ive tripped on the multiple times. I would think that I could build a rubber set. Ill most likely do it for me anyway, its just a matter of if there is interest ill make a 'higher quality mold' that will be able to pull enough pieces. Maybe a set that the darts screw off so you can replace them:) ?

Interested if done screen accurate. Also it would be cool if you could make them as one piece.

Since alot of people have different book makers, the rubber will fit nicely around the toe.

Ok ill put together the reference that ill need and start looking into making them.

Im thinking this can be a pretty cheap kit. Im not sure about the 'thin ness' of the metal front in rubber. Ill have to look at what kind of rigidity I can do with

Can I assume the boot toe is SQUARED and not rounded? Im concerned becsause I could actually do a straight piece that wraps around. But if the angles are too far off the spikes wont face straight forward. Input?

That's an issue I had when I attached my aluminum toe spikes to my Caboots.
The Caboots are more rounded than the Jango Wes & Mark Cheng boots which are much more square.
The Russrep (IIRC) spikes I had were not meant for my wee feet either.
when I bent the plates to match the contours of my Caboots, the spikes pointed out & away from my feet.
So...
I had to remove the darts & fabricate new plates
Then I attached them to my Caboots & backfilled the gaps with white Caulking (way ghetto, I know)

So it would seem that you would have to sculpt for individual makers & possibly size ranges.

Just my 2 cents

aw, but if they are rubber, how are you supposed to kick people out of the way at crowded cons ;)

the boot sizing issue will be tricky, as slave1pilot mentioned about the angles of the spikes.

i think that 1 piece construction is important... wouldn't want a spike coming off.

personally, i'd say that starting off with a caboots.com shoe would be the easiest thing... i'd imagine that more people have those than any of the other styles, since they are readily available.

I used white caulk too! I had the same problems. It worked out pretty ok. The caulk actually made them much more secure.

First things first im trying to acquire a 'real' spike or at least a mold from a real spike. Once I have that, or something very close, ill start with figuring out how we can do this to make something truely unique and sturdy

OK, This is the second troop in a row where I lost a metal spike. :cry They just seem to fall off when walking or if lightly bumped. I would be totally interested in a set of rubber spikes if they will stay on!:wacko
