Insignia Sizing

I know this has been asked but I have not found a very good answer as of yet, even doing a forum search.
For a RotJ kit, the flight insignia on the right chest plate, what is a general size?
I have seen 2.5" mentioned here on the forum. It was the only actual measurement I could find. However that doesn't clarify if that is 2.5" from one end of the feather/branch to the other with the insignia's main circular body measuring 2" in diameter or if it's 3" from one end of the feather/branch to the other with the insignia's main circular body measuring 2.5" in diameter.

The first seems too small while the other seems correct:

It's not exactly what you're asking, but it's my understanding that decals are screen accurate. I bought mine from Lucksy31 and they're great and not very expensive.
