So I decided to try and build a Boba Fett on the cheap for May 4th and the release of the upcoming Star Wars. My previous experience has dealt mostly with EVA, as I made a Halo spartan suit out of it. I love the material, yet on these forums it seems like people really despise it. Though, I completely understand. It's cheap, weak, extremely flexible, wears easily, and generally falls apart after even a few uses if not properly cared for.
But! It is super easy to work with and is extremely inexpensive. I started my suit with the stuff and will likely switch to Sintra (whenever I manage to find some), but for the time being, will EVA get me booed at?
Here's my armor so far, I just started. I kinda like the way it turned out. It was my first time painting on weathering, and I'm happy with it. I will almost definitely make adjustments and probably redo everything, but let me know what you guys think, eh?
I just wanted to know the general community perspective on the use of EVA foam in building these suits! I would hate to disgrace.
Also, on a side note, what would be the best resource for building a jetpack out of wood? I have access to my school's woodshop and would like to turn the beacon on a lathe. I feel this would offer the cheapest, most durable, and most accurate product. Dunno, though, I have a lot to learn!
