How To Attach All The Armor??

Seeker's armor attachment method is really good. His snaps seem to work good and looks really cool. I epoxyed mine straight to my vest.... it's not held great, and after Dcon the vest smells a lot and I can't wash it because the armor's glued directly onto it. Oh well. I'm getting a RA vest and will snap the armor to it.

Yeah those "name tag" magnets work good huh? Im still waiting for my armor as well... Im going to probably use velcro for the shoulder bells and collar though. The knees and thighs and shins will probably use velcro and straps through the jumpsuit, and the cod piece will use super hot glue...YEEEEEEEEEEOW! :)

At cantina costumes there is a page dedicated to the assembly of the chest armor to the vest. You can see it here:

I have been studying this for some time and think the real suit may support this theory. Take a look at a few of the pics below, that I took at MoM in NY. Sure looks to me like there is something behind the vest the is pushing it out and directly into the back of the armor... Comments?

That really makes sense to me. I think that it would be a good method of making the armor and vest more "integrated" rather than having the armor plates just attached to fabric at random points (which would lead to weird stress points in the vest).

I originally tried that method and almost ruined everything...it was a nightmare. I ended up bolting my armor through the vest without a back-side inner armor piece. It's held up great.

What happened to make it all go sour . . . I'd like to know since this is the method I was planning on using.

Well, let's see, I made the mistake of using too much glue that didn't stay and it slipped and ended up getting on me and my vest. It was a nightmare! I ended up gluing myself...to myself.

There's several ways to attach the armor.

Easiest and quickest is industrial velcro.

Or, epoxy glue snaps onto the armor, paint 'em red to mark the spots on the vest where the opposite snap goes.

Some like a variant of this method- 1/4" bolts and nuts, done the same way as above.

Also powerful earth magnets have been used with success. They are quite expensive however. Not the same type as found in Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.

Hope this helps!

take care,
