Can anyone tell me how to get a hold of hotshot. His email is no longer any good and I paid him for a blaster I never got a month ago. Thanks
Can anyone tell me how to get a hold of hotshot. His email is no longer any good and I paid him for a blaster I never got a month ago. Thanks
Hotshot has a bad reputation over on the Ghostbusters prop forums for this exact thing,I hope you either get your product or at least get a refund.
Good luck! He has been jerking folks around on here for a year now. I bought my ROTJ from him with a promise that it would be 5 to 10 business days... then 2 months later after calling him out and getting nasty PM's from him telling me that he was tired of "justifying" himself to me, he sent a shoddy job to me two weeks after my troop. He needs banning bad but most people get so frustrated that they just shut up and take it rather than make a public stink over it. There are so few really trustworthy "vendors" on here that it really gets hard to distinguish them from the scum. This is not aimed at the casual seller.
what i dont understand is how come it takes so long to get people their refunds if this is in fact "just a hobby" for vendors...:facepalm you buy the materials as a vendor, then you make items to accomodate the needs of the forum...if someone needs a refund, you should have the money, ready to go, if a refund is needed...i am sorry, but the buyer has to "beware" so much that a thread is made to warn them...why isnt there a seller "beware" and some guidelines for them as well...it makes me sick to my stomach when i see people getting screwed here all the time...buyers should not have to wait for a refund...the money should be there IMMEDIATELY when a refund is asked for, IF this is just a hobby for people...i see that excuse way to much, "oh this is just a hobby..." well, forking out hundredes of dollars to have someone make items is not a "hobby" for most people...:cheers
word to your mother
He is online now...Does he have the courage or moral fiber to respond????
actually he responded to wendyfett a little bit ago on another thread she posted on about it. But instead of being sorry he got mad at her for making a claim with paypal.
Oh yes, he got mad at me for attempting a claim on the 45th day! I was sadly late on the claim but he still had the audacity to be snotty for trying to get my money back...He is a piece of work alright.
I never contacted him about the ESB rifle that I paid for, and I got my refund. I think he was going in order of people that paid. I don't know the exacts but it sounds like he may have bitten off more than he could chew, but I think that could happen to anyone in his circumstance as well. He may have used the money he received from members to buy all the materials he needed, then when it didn't work out, he had to come up with money on his own to make the refunds. In either case, he could have done things differently and made people a little happier about it.
is this the right place to post this type of thread?
And why does it seem like it is okay all the sudden to post bad things about a fellow member in a public forum? Doesn't seem cool to me.
This is really too bad!! I bought a ROTJ blaster from him about a year ago. It did take about 3 months to get it, but the quality was great. He was also great throughout the entire transaction. I guess he took on more than he could handle.
Either way you only have your word once in this life. Once it is gone, it is gone. If people cannot vioce thier oppinion then this site and the first ammendment are dead...IMHO>>>>> :eek
but does this need to be posted in the Cargo Hold? No one is selling or wanting to buy anything in this thread... there is no asking price, no product... nothing.
it got moved... I guess the sale ended :lol
BTW now that this thread is no longer in the Cargo Hold... WendyFett... Hotshot was in the process of using up the last of his rubber. He was busy making 2 other ROTJ blasters before yours (one of which is mine). He should be contacting you soon regarding it.
I don't think it's entirely Hotshots fault. It seems he's just had a hard time with his molds. I think he's working as hard as he can to get you guys refunds for you ESB blasters.
I don't know what all is going on, but did Hotshot tell you in advance that he needed money in order to make the blasters? If he did, then I guess you guys were taking on his business risk, and i think that's why his prices are so low. I mean... where else can you get a decent blaster for his price?
I realize you guys must be frustrated that you haven't gotten refunds back... I would be too, but maybe cut the guy some slack. He seems to be working really hard, and it probably doesn't make him want to refund you guys any sooner by slandering his name on the forum.
He's put in a lot of time and effort in to this, and he doesn't have anything to show for it... It wasn't like he was taking advantage of anyone... its seems like things just didn't go the way he planned. If he was really trying to rip you guys off, he'd probably never be on this forum again.. take your money and run, but it seems like he's trying to make things right... but its going to take time.
I hope that helps in some way
Well, I guess I can respond to this.
Let's break it all down.
The first question is about using the money to fund the run.
(I'm going to pretty much ignore anything else that was said up there)
This is how every prop maker/hobbist works. It's simple economics . . .especially for forums like this one. You gotta get interest going, then get the cash, and then get going. In most cases, what happens is the builder wil get a prototype made up, and most likely get it molded, then start taking orders and getting the entire run supplied. Then the builder gets going on production. If all goes well, then the builder can get things shipped out on time.
Now, we all can grasp that simple concept. It what everything around us, from the Junkyard to the cargo Hold is based on for runs.
The concept of something going wrong is also very easy to grasp. Unless you're Fettdad . . .
Let's take for example the ROTJ stunt rifles. I had a great experience on BSN doing Scout blasters, and the response was huge. The master was just retired as a matter a fact, after four moldings, and five (I think) full runs. As you can expect from that number . .you can imagine how many blasters were sold with little to no complaint. So, after seeing a Fett at a con whack his blaster into a wall, and see it shatter . . .I figured foam rubber blasters for Fetts would be awesome!
Afetr a quick interest thread, I had my answer, and I started taking orders, and cranking them out in the same manner of the Biker pistols.
Then something went worng . . . .the first six blasters were not well liked by anyone.
So . . .I was stuck with a delema . .do I refund everyone, do I run like the wind, or do I try and redo the blasters.
After a long week of phonecalls, personal visits, and tests, I baically issued a recall of the six, and started alll over. The repsonse was positive and everyone got there blasters. Not bad for a guy who has a 'bad rep and 'weak moral fiber.'
Then I tried the ESB . . . at the same time I started a new job, which wasn't going to be longer than six weeks. Cool, quick cash in town AND online! Sweet!! So I pushed forward, and kept updating as fast as I could, as teh 'quick job in town' became alot harder and went beyond six weeks. Finally, a started molding parts, taking orders, (this time in the form of half pre-orders, since the ROTJ went soo long), and was generally happy with my work. I kept going, getting nearly every detail part eady to go . . . I started collecting teh other half of payments.
After three failed blasters pulls and two ripped molds . . .I fell drastically behind, and was ready to call it quits, but alot of folks cheered me on, and kept telling me I could pull it off. I was less than hopeful, knowing what a full redo would entail. I was not amused, and was ready to quit completly. I wanted out, badly. So did I run away and take everyone's money with me?
Nope, I rebuilt a new ESB master from scratch, remolded it, and started alllllll over again. I guess that makes me a bad guy too. Shame on me for using the moeny people paid to get them what they ordered. Oh, I should mention here that the job I took became permanent, and it was a retail position, and all of this was going on 'round about Black Friday. Boy . .I'm a jerk . . .
So, once everything was molded, and I was happy, i started getting the ESB made up, and even managed to get two into boxes!! I was estactic and went wayyy to nuts in telling people I was finannly getting them taken care of. Until the post office popped open a box and saw a giant gun in it . . .i havn't seen them since.
At that point I gave up completly, one because of being fed up, frustrated, and out of money. Two becuase of getting another prop related job that was simply unpassable. I had to move on.
I figured I should start getting out refunds.
I had done my best . .and failed. I guess I'm a terrible person and an awful seller with a bad rep because I used every cent to get the product made and shipped, and when that didn't work. . .started refunding folks as quick as possible.
Dang . . .what I jerk I've been!!
Now, as for Wendyfett, He had emailed me last week, and I failed to respond. As I'm sure anyone who's been in one of my runs has realized that I try to update and communicate even when the answer is 'sorry, not yet.'
I received an inbox full of emails today, including paypal notices, and when I read his reasons, etc. they were basically soft excuses, and it seems after sending one email this morning, he couldn't wait 15 minutes or so for me to respond until he filed the claim.
**in fairness, I should note he sent an email to a now clsed address, and after he received a FOD notice, he started to freak a bit, that would get any of us worried. Of course, on the other side of that, every forum I'm on, as well as Paypal, all use my current email address, which he also used, and could have just waited for a response.
Unfortunatly, folks like Wendyfett as well as BoomerFett, seem to be exceptions to the rule; that members of TDH are, in general supportive, patient, and follow through with feedback, ideas, and tend to stay in touch on other boards. I'm very proud to be a part of this community, even when I can't function as one . . .
WendyFett and Boomer have acted like Pains in the butt and shown me a pattern of constant spoiled brat behavior, touting their experience in and around the communtiy as something to be feared and respected. That ain't waht it's about around here . . .
I find that it's best to deal with members like this by simply shipping their items and ignoring them after their tracking number clears.
Now, before you get all mad at me for being that honest, please don't forget that I've been just as honest a few sentences above about myself.
And just in case you've forgotten, let's go back over it.
I made a bad call in my execution of the first six rifles, took everyone's advice, recalled all six, and made 15 more the way people wanted. The modl has finally kicked after cleaning out the last of my rubber supllies, and I beleive the final tally was just under 45 of these made. Boomer and Wnedy have been the only trouble. Everyone else was awesome, and was really great to deal with. Thanks guys
I took on too much during the ESB run, be it unintenional or ignored. I made too many stupid promises when I should have just taken my time and updated appropritaly. After a first and second attmept at completion, I've issued 11 of 15 refunds. Not one ESB buyer has been a problem, everyone has been supportive and many have insisted that I try again one day.
I should note WendyFett bought a ROTJ, but in his haste to creat a mail trail for Paypal, he posted in the ESB thread. I would think a guy with 14 post would know the difference by now**shrugs**
So there's my response. Sorry I've caused so much trouble. But before anyone else hops on anything resembling a bandwagon . . .read through this and the other threads carfully. You'll sound alot smarter in you next post.
Thanks TDH. As smarmy as I've come off in this thread, the moajority participant in this community should give themselves a pat on the back, because my stupid words and rants would never be able to express how great most of yuo have been throughout my current failings.
Man . .i need to get that thing speel chacked . . .
I own one of the ROTJs and am only selling because I found a hyperfirm. Other than that, I think the product turned out nice for the dollar value.
I watched the thread a it progressed and found it natural to have mistakes and learn from them.
From what Im reading, it doesnt sound like anyone is questioning the quality or learning curve, its the response time/communication.
I for one was a pleased customer with what I got. The only issue that was a minor speedbump for me was saying it will be shipped on day "X" then after a follow-up PM a week later, getting a PM back saying (paraphrased) 'Oh yeah so and so came up, I'll do it today'.
In my case I'm a patient person, so it didn't bug me. I don't troop really anymore so mine was for a mannequin, no real rush there. But in general if someone tells me "I'll send this out Monday" then thats something you kind of take to the bank. If said Monday promise can't be made, as a buyer you expect to hear back on Monday with the real ship date. You get frustrated when you followup a week after Monday to hear about how something came up. It's my opinion that communication is the burden of the seller.
I'm only playing devil's advocate bro, offering a viewpoint that from what I gather is a communication issue (easily fixed) rather than a quality issue.
I know it can suck having work, family, and trying to offer a service to others in what little free time you have left of the day, but in the end people want communication. I don't doubt some folks may have went crazy with wanting hourly updates, but that's just the good with the bad.
That being said, my experience was pretty positive. If you offered a prop down the road that I was interested in, I'd probably consider buying it. Outside of hiccups in production, I would want to count on dates/times shipped to be as promised.
Just thought I'd throw that 2 cents into the pot.
I totally agree with you. I've benn trying more and more to let people know what has come up, and have tried very hard to break the habit of using a PM or post to set a goal.
Unfortunatly, old habits are hard to break . . .:facepalm
I'm really glad you were pleased with your blaster. Good luck on the sale!
All I can say is that I was in on one of the first runs of the ROTJ's and he delivered it on time for my convention and it was a pure joy to use! I am so sorry to hear others didnt have the same experience as me. I am so bummed that the ESB run never materialized, because I wanted to see one so bad!! so I admit it... I'm a Hotshot fanboy. I hate it when there is bad blood on here. I just wish we were all happy shiny people... :(:(:(:(
Hot shot is the foam rubber dude?
i just learned i have one of his ROTJ blasters
and will be selling it to raise some money
Ya . .dat iz me.
I really am appreciative for Hotshots hard work on the ESB blasters. Such a shame they didnt work out. I did get my refunds fairly quick, atleast by prop trading standards.
I support Hotshot, and I'd buy from him again. Especially if he could promise that he would pull it off 100% this time :P
Hey...Figured I'll chime in here since I did write the reviews for the ROTJ blaster on the original thread. (Sorry guys, life has been very busy and I haven't been on here much of late...trying to make a change so I can)
Well let me first say I have dealt and talked over the phone with Hotshot and FettDad, I have also talked with Boomer over PMs numerous times. I like all three of you guys and each of you brings something new and different to TDH family. You guys have been GREAT to me and value each of your opinions. But PLEASE lets not start playing with fire and burning down bridges. We are all nerds who have an (probably unhealthy) obsession with Fett.
So on the side of being out of money and things not getting deliver on time. I know where you come from. Not to beat dead horses, but I'll just say I had gauntlet issues (those who have been here know what I am talking about). Yeah it SUCKED!! I paid for them then 5 months later I finally got them in after NO communication, and what communication I got was I'll do it tomorrow. Hotshot from what I can tell seemed honest about updating even when it was a fail attempt with molds. But I can see where people in todays economy are very protective and worried about scams and throwing away money. I don't blame you, people today just sometimes don't seem to be the stand up types we would like to see...Good news is the vast majority of TDH are not those people but the ones we like to see and do business with.
Like I said before, I have talked to Hotshot over the phone when I got my first blaster. To be honest it looked really messy and there were flaws in the structure. I talked over PM and we move dit to phone. He was open to suggustions and I was honest with him about it. We talked for a good time that nigth just going over every detial of the blaster. He was great working with and really made me feel like my opinion was worth something. Couple days later, he was reworking it and starting a full first run. I got the blaste rin the mail and called him up. It was great! Everything we touched on was redid and made to be as strudy as possible while still being the soft unbreakable blaster. After talking to him and seeing the results, I knew he was a hard worker and dedicated to the run.
It is sad to see that he got tired of doing a run... but it happens and it dosen't help when your molds get damaged as well. It was a great blaster option and a MR and hyperfirm (though amazing) are too much for me right now so it set up another option for everyone. I do hope that things are made right...which I am sure they will be. I really hate to think and doubt that anyone on here is here to screw other members out of money. I have to hand it to hotshot, though it probably wasen't the best idea to use the money for the run, at least he is working to refund and it is coming out of his pocket since the money gave to him went into the run. Maybe a lesson learned we could say.
I do hope that everyone gets things right and that the bad blood can settle out. I see where both side are coming from and each have valid points. I honestly do. I am only talking from what I have observed and my relations with the members. I haven't seen or heard any of the PMs sent so I can not say for sure who handled what right or what business is working out behind the closed doors. But from what I know, I know there is no harm intended.
So lets turn this thread around from being negative to a thread where we get some good responses about the refunds. You are all AMAZING people in my book, so I know it can work out.
This is starting to get to a sort of 'love-in' kinda level. . . .I'm all a-twitter . . .
Thanks for speking up guys. Definatly feelin' the love.
I did get my blaster today and closed my paypal claim. Not a perfect pull, but good enough. When I tried to reach him by the email he has been contacting me by and it was no longer valid, I did not know what to do. I consider it closed now. Thanks everyone.
Re: STUNT ROTJ Fett rifles, finally! Big pics.
This was two weeks ago. My troop date is today. You shipped it yesterday. Congrats!!!
Workin' on it. I want to be able to send all of them out at once at the end of the week. you'll get it before your date!
PS-Your PM's are kinda starting to get ridiculous. I can't take the extra time while at work to answer you every time you need an update. I have CLEARLY displayed a hard to kill work ethic on this project, so your nervousness about getting your blaster is unnessecary.
I'll update as much as possible, okay?
Also, trying to get your money back when your blaster's been made, and while I've been more than open to communication/updates, and people have been getting their blasters is very, very inappropriate.

I'm sorry but I still remember this and think its only fair for everyone to know the whole story. I am not out to "get" Rhett or slander his name. He used to produce a wanted product but let himself get in over his head and became rude and uncommunicative. I too have sold things on here and at times even got behind but I have ALWAYS been in direct communication with my folks and NEVER RUDE! Needless to say I got lie after lie from Rhett and got my blaster 6 to 8 weeks after I was PROMISED and a week after my troop. Not that he cares as you can read...he just blows off those that bother him...Quality, real quality...
Good lord Boomer . . .move on already!
Look Rhett, this isn't meant to be an attack on your personality as I am sure you are a good guy that meant well. However, you nailed it by calling yourself a jerk. I said nothing until others started asking then I related my experience with you so that others may learn of the character of the man that they are dealing with. I hold people accountable for their actions for a living and as a result I hold myself accountable as well. I have heard excuses and rhetoric for your actions and thats okay. As long as people ask then I am obliged to answer with the information I have.
Think of it like this, if fifty people I know come up to me and tell me that I stink, even though I just got out of the shower...I might want to take another shower. I am just saying that I know you are trying to make things right for your recent mistakes, but you have never addressed the old ones...well, besides brushing them aside.
Well, I'm still waiting on my refund from my original purchase made in August of 08' for my ESB EE-3.
Most of you know that in turn I bought another blaster and it's all turned into a nightmare. So now I will have paid for 3 blasters in total. One is in hand and is pretty nice from Mike Moyer. The next is a piece of kaka and the seller (Curtis) stiffed me on a refund and I'm still in process of rebuilding it. The 3rd is Hotshot's that I'm patiently waiting for a refund on. He's been making well little by little with his refunds but I trust that I'll get mine eventually. And 4th is a Stormrider kit that I was lucky enough to win in a Karma drawing that I haven't even had a chance to begin putting together.
So, I think I get the prize for nightmares regarding this run. Because of the turn it took I have 3 out of 4 blasters in essence and am out almost 600 dollars until I get my refund which is for 140 dollars. All in all though I'll keep it as a positive. At least I finally got a gun. :thumbsup:cheers
Esh, you are a far better and patient man than I...
Sure is a bute! :thumbsup:cheers
