Horsehair Wookie Braids Run 2 *Full* Progress & Updates

Has anyone every tried using Hair dye on rope to get the colors needed??? I've seen some thick rope at the store that looked like it could be braids if it were the right color. So was thinking fabric dyes and then Hair Dye hit me as an idea. plenty of color options out there. Just a tought.

Actually I use both Rit fabric dye and regular hair dye, depending on the color I need. I haven't tried dying any rope though, just the horse hair.

I would think that fabric dye would work better on the rope, plus it doesn't have the strong odor that hair dye has when dying.

A few people have ask me about attaching the braids so I thought I would post a couple of pics. The full size versions are at the bottom of the Gallery.

The pic is of the 3 braid ESB set (black braid is looped, the other 2 or not.) I used some of the sinew, however you could you a thick thread or even fishing line to tie the braids together.

I used a safety pin. You could use individual safety pins for each braid or one large one.

Julie,
Received my set of braids, and can't thank you enough. Extremely worth the wiat-they are a work of art, and you are one incredible lady.
God Bless,
Ron

Thanks Julie! I will take the 3 braid ESB set (1 black looped, 1 flaxen blond unlooped, & 1 silver/gray braid unlooped) with red & black sinew $45 if this is still deemed to be the most accurate. Thanks!
