General Help understand ESB and ROTJ similarities

Ghost_Fett

Hunter
Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me understand the similarities in the two versions of the costumes.

What are the pieces that if I bought second hand from and ROTJ fett, could I repaint and use with an ESB fett? I was thinking helmet, armor, shin tools and jetpack but I wanted to make sure I'm correct. Are there any other pieces that go both ways? Do the pieces I've mentioned even work that way?

Thanks for any advice guys. I really want to do ESB and want to be knowledgeable if an ROTJ offers to sell me pieces.

Gauntlets as well to some extent. the coloring on various parts as well as the flamethrower on the side of the left gauntlet, and the hose placements vary. the clamshells themselves for the base gauntlets are identical though.

Thanks man! There is a couple pieces I thought I could nab from an ROTJ fett I just wanted to make sure I'm not screwing myself. Do ROTJ fetts usually have any big dents in the armor or anything I should worry about not having for ESB. I know cod dent is always there and the helmet dent is always there

If you are going to do the paint and finish work yourself there are several parts that go to both. If you buy a raw girth belt, boots, jet pack, most of the armor and the helmet can go to either kit if you do the painting and finishing yourself. The flight suit can go to either if you are ok with dying it correctly. I have found that most flightsuits need some adjustment anyway.

I would probably buy gauntlets specific to the kit. Just for the simple reason that you will spend a good amount to get the other style flame thrower purchased on its own.

The flak vest and neck seal goes to either one.

The jet pack harness goes to both.

The ammo belt is specific to each.

The Wookie braids are specific to each.

The rifle is specific to each.

The side arm is only seen on ESB.

As for the armor, if you're going from ROTJ to ESB, you'd have to replace the right shoulder and the left gauntlet (upper and lower clamshells) as well as the right breastplate and change the dents on the backplate. Very few people know about the differences between the collars, and it's very subtle, so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Yeah. I'm about 36 inches on my chest. 32 waist. 5'6" tall. Sizing will be key to pulling this off. It has been a worry of mine. I'm not quite good at trimming myself.

I would get the smaller version that RKD sells. If its too small you can sell it on the boards and get the larger version.

One thing I want to emphasize that the above was stated for ROTJ Boba Fett. RoTJ SE is a different story for armor pieces.

There are differences in the rangefinder and rear dental files on the helmets which was not previously discussed. There are differences in the chest light pattern sequence on the left breastplate. Lastly there are subtle differences in the jetpack which were not stated.

That's not true. The upper lefts are different from each other in a few ways....the main being that ESB is vac formed and ROTJ is fiberglass, but there are other differences as well. The bottom clamshells are also different, believe it or not.
