hello everyone, I'm new and have a question.

So, I just stumbled on to this site one day, and I decided to take the plunge. I'm not new to the world of painting, so many of the painting techniques I'm familiar with. However, I've never done prop making before, which I think could be really fun and interesting. Okay, enough rambling, on to my question. I really can't decide between doing an ESB or RoTJ Fett. I like them both for differing reasons. I know its all up to personal preference, but I was wondering what your opinions were. Is one version more easier/complex than the other? Are there any particular pitfalls for a beginner that differ from one to the other? Any guidance you could provide would be most helpful.

Some sick, sorry individuals here have full Fett wardrobes -- Supertrooper, Pre-Pro 1, Pre-Pro 2, ESB, ROTJ, Special Edition, Holiday Special, 1313...

You'd just have to pick which one to start with. ;)

(And I'm allowed to poke at multiple Fetts -- I have a docket a good thirty costumes deep that I'm working on whittling down -- many years of health and financial difficulty, while the costuming bug kept adding on to the end of the list. :p So it's a sickness I suffer from, myself.)

Well, thanks for the replies gents. I've decided to grow with rotj, simply because of the greater availability of parts and pictures, and it seems somewhat cheaper also. Which leads me to another question. What is a greebly? I see that word a lot...

What is a greebly? I see that word a lot...

I remember first learning that word :)

Greeblies are miscellaneous parts on a prop that give it added dimension. For example, there are 'greeblies' on the wooden stock of the EE-3 blaster. These really have no function, but are more 'decorations' that add more to the character.

ROTJ rocks, but make sure you do your homework as there is the special edition version plus the hero version. I prefer the hero personally.
As far as cost goes if rotj is cheaper it wouldn't be much depending on which parts your source etc.....
Good luck on your build
