Has this been tried?

I've been looking at different harness designs for the jetpack.

Some of them involve a chest strap with Fastex clips, which seems kinds cumbersome, bulky, and for those of us with pecs (or moobs) a bit uncomfortable. But attaching shoulder straps directly to the flack vest, and leaving the belt separate, is asking for the flack vest to slide back and cause the collar armor to ride up.

When I was in the Forces our rucksacks had an ab belt, with straps anchored to the belt going up over the shoulders to the pack frame.

Has anyone tried anchoring the shoulder straps to the flack vest, then two more attached to the vest to anchor to the belt? That would turn the flack vest into a load carrying vest and distribute the weight more evenly. The attachment to the belt could be semiconcealed to maintain an "accurate" look while keeping things comfy.

Thoughts?

I don't wear a harness on my pack. I have the shoulder straps connected directly to the flightsuit, not the vest. The belt connects directly to the jetpack and secures around my waist. It gives the outward appearance of the harness system but is less stuff to wear.

I was wondering about the same set-up, just attaching the straps to the flight suit. Do you have any pics of your setup stormtrooperguy?

Yeah, I'm curious to see that. I use a FettDad harness that I modded slightly with a better belt and do not have my diver belt/buckle even attached to the jetpack or system.

I did something similar to what your talking about KarmaTiger.

Hey Seeker, Is the jetpack attached to the straps with the parachute clips, or is there something else i am not seeing in the pictures?

the metal harness rig setup is probably the best bet for load bearing it works like a ruck sack frame, no substitute and its screen accurate, I ruck with 60+ lbs and the 10lb or so jetpack is easy stuff with the harness rig...I didnt really like having just a webbing strap setup

Awesome this will help alot for my harness. I dont really need the metal frame since my pack is all cardboard, scratchbuilt with WOF templates. It is super light so I think the straps should work.
