Harness free jetpack mounting?

Hey peoples. I was considering a simplification to my ESB fett suit. The idea being to attach the jetpack to the backplate and collar armour in a semi permanent manner to simplify the suiting up process at troops.
Anyone tried this?
I'm aware of weight issues with the jetpack, and the risk of being choked by the collar armour. But some hidden reinforcement through the back and collar might distribute the weight across the shoulders... Thoughts on the topic anyone?

I wouldn't recommend it.

With the backplate not being attached to your body (it just hangs off the collar), any weight on the backplate will go directly to the collar, not only choking you but putting stress in the joining points. In time, the suiting up process becomes a bit more fluid and you get used to it. It's better to put the jetpack on properly by having the weight distributed with the harness. You'll be more comfortable in the long run.

Saying that, I'm always amazed at what people are able to draw up, so if you had plans I'd be interested in seeing them.

I dunno if you want to try this or not...but it worked well for me. I always hated trooping with a harness...kinda uncomfortable. I simply beefed up the back area of my flightsuit with extra fabric, and sewed my straps directly to it. I can thread the straps through the backplate.prior.to putting on the flightsuit....super.easy to suit up. Ive trooped.with this set up for years!!! My JP is fairly light weight though.... Probably wouldn't work well with a heavier pack.

I'll put a pic of my setup, but basically I have hooks on my JP, and riveted to my back are 2 brackets, one on each side. I know it's not screenaccurate, but it's VERY fast to take the pack on and off and is pretty sturdy. Not hard to put in either. Works for me but everyone's kit is different

2legit2fett Ah the good ole shirtstays I have nightmares of blues and shirt stays. Thankfully I am not in blues often, that being said I think you might be onto something. I cant count how many times I have cut a pair of those up for costuming purposes.

having tried soft and hard harnesses...id say just get a hard harness rig...its secure and not very much worry about it falling off....Ive dropped a jetpack before its no fun....the thing isn't cheap to replace. Theyre heavy, unless you make one out of foam which is totally possible I suppose, its not a feasible idea.

Yeah, gave the idea a test drive with an old back plate, joined at the collar reinforced with sintra/pvc. Although the weight is predominantly pushing then into the shoulders, there is still a slight backward drag that pulls the collar backwards. Looks like I'll stick to my old hard harness rig until I can come up with a better idea. Thanks for the input everyone.
