and i've gotta say that i'm not particularly impressed.

accuracy aside, the build quality is "so-so" at best. there's lots of excess rubber around the soles that will need to be trimmed off, and a bunch of threads sticking out everywhere.

they were out of the size i ordered and weren't going to have more for a month, so i stepped up a half size. i'm glad i did, since their size 10 is the exact same length as the 9.5 combat boots i'm wearing now.

i'm sure they'll look fine, but for $100 i'd like a more finished product. i'd liken them to a rough trimmed vac formed piece. just about ready to go, but still need a bit of work.

You have any photos? I know a lot of people have gotten them and they looked finished. I'm sure they'd exchange them for you if you wished. Joey at Caboots is a nice guy.

Weathering is the biggest thing in making them look accurate. Here's a before/after type photo. I just misted the black areas with greay, and misted the gray areas with black to bring down the contrast between the two. Then added wooden dowel toe spikes.

I think Chris is right..Weathering DOES TEND to make the difference..

Weathering is the key to make them look more accurate. Even if you have some rubber that needed to be trimmed the weathering will hide all those flaws you don't like. Remember, no one is going to be looking at your shoes as close as you would when they are in your hand.

yeah, they aren't so bad that i'd return them. i'll take some photos to see if the excess rubber is normal and i'm just being too picky. the TK boots i got from them were put together much more neatly.

i have this boba sculpture i made in 7th grade art class. i use that as a major reference, funny as that may seem. i figure that any detail i caught when i was that young must be important. my little fett's shoes have the stripes and spikes, but no detail on the soles, so i think i'm ok ;)

I got my CAboots about a month ago and I actually love them. They're super comfy and 100 times better than they'd look if I tried to make them. Here's a money saving tip for anyone who plans to buy them in the future. Ask if they have any decent FD (factory defects) in your size. They didn't have my size either but offered me FD ones for $20 off. I asked what was wrong with the FD boots and she said they were mostly scuffed or had glue showing. I thought to myself, if only you knew what I was going to do to them.

in my haste to put them together, i totally forgot to take photos of the pre-trimming of excess rubber.

i trimmed off the flash, screwed in the boot spikes i got a while ago, hit them with some grey and black mist, and they look awesome.

i walked around them a bit, and i am definitely glad i got a 1/2 size bigger than i usually wear - they fit very well.

I am going to order mine soon. Oh yeah and with the combat boot sizing, they tell us when we get them issued that most if not all combat boots are made a half size off, so whew!!!

here are my boots. the colors are a bit off... the white balance on my camera was set wrong and i didn't bother to re-shoot:

the spikes are the aluminum ones that were done by omega_man. the spats i made last night, and have not yet weathered them (that's where the color is really off... they aren't really that orangey-brown color!)

So what's the consenous on the sizing of these boots. I'm a 9.5, should I go the extra half size to be safe? Do they run slightly small?

Actually I think a 9.5" should be a perfect fit...they run a little big...(y)
