Really interesting project. Like I tolk Jango_Wes in private, these ones are going to be cool for the guys who can't afford for S1 gloves or don't have a pair of those...or just to simply have an extra pair as a backup just in case.

Can't wait to see the prototype!

WOOO HOOO someone is makeing Pre-pro gloves!!! You have no idea how happy I am that I don't have to make these on my own! Those are the right patches but they were dyed brown. Right after DC I will take a pair with patches if you could dye them that would be cool if you cant not a big deal.

Re: Glove project Need your input

    EXCELLENT!

I think the RotJ was light grey. I also think the patches should be white and we can then weather them to our own tastes.

Fastenings? a button is accurate, but velcro would be easier to get on and off at cons/troops, etc, and is more adjustable than a zip.

A couple of inches past the wrist would be good IMO

Number of sections on the patches? Hang on, I'll dive into the ref CD. Back in a mo.........

OK here's a fairly good pic of the glove from the Ref CD (Thanks Braks & Secol):

Very light grey gloves. White, but dirty patches. 5 sections (4 lines of stitching) on the back of the hand patch. Don't forget the patch on the left hand is shorter than the one on the right.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Re: Glove project Need your input

Im taking notes....so keep it coming. The ROTJ glove Light grey base w/ white detailng.
ESB Glove Darker grey w/ White detailing
5 section on the Forehand. w/ 4 Lines of stiching
The Pad on Left glove is shorter... How much shorter? Post A pic if you guys have it. cuz I didnt Know that!!!!
The cuff will be about 3.5 Inches past the wrist to insure that it stays put Inside the guantlets, with a velcro draw strap.... I can do a snap if you prefer.
One last question... would you prefer the glove lined or unlined.can offer it either way, using a soft satin type material for the liner. Also if you are doing a custom Mandalorian Characters costume I can/ will build to your Specs. IE: j Kast or????

Liking what I hear so far.

Here are some pics showing the different sized patches I was on about. These are RotJ from the MOM pics on the Ref CD. I assume they are the same shape/size for all versions. No doubt an ESB or pre-pro officionado will chime in if I'm wrong .

    Left Glove:

    Right glove:

For a close-up of both pics, go to pics 297 and 298 on the BOBA FETT REF CD V1.0

    Hope this helps.

Any idea of timescales or price? No worries if not, just let us know when you can.

    Many thanks.

Again, I'd be cautious going by the color of the MoM or AOSW gloves if you are doing a Jedi pair. I don't believe the gloves in Jedi were as light as what we see at MoM or AOSW.

I'll have to dig up the photo again.

Of course if you are doing an SE suit, then the MoM/AOSW color would be just perfect.

Here are some pics of the pre-pro gloves from the referance CD. The left glove has the hour-glass shape patch going horizontial and the right has the line patch going verticle. The colors in the first pic are washed out, but the others are good.

Absolutely right TD. I put the pics up to show the patch shapes, not for colour reference - I should have said. I think they are too pale in the pics I posted (years of storage and washing etc I expect).

HERE'S A LINK TO PIC 27 on the ref CD which isn't great for colour referencing, but does show they aren't as light as the MOM pics. I think they were lighter than ESB, but not so light as MOM.

Look forward to seeing your pics Tyler!

Yes, Han Hunter, that is one of the other pics I had in mind showing a slightly darker glove color than MOM. I like it because it is a still directly from the movie.

This behind the scenes image also shows a dark glover:

Nice shot! I think it's made ever so slightly darker due to the early morning light and the way the shadows are cast, etc, but clearly shows it to be much darker than MoM/AoSW.

    Fellow Hunters,
I will Have Pics Of The ROTJ version by end of Buisness today. Jango_Wes will be posting them. These Gloves are the PROTOTYPEs.
As well I will Have a Pic of the JODO KAST version.
As soon as I can determine the True Color of the PREPRODUCTION glove I will have those as well.
I am leaning towards a Dark Tan Base w/ An Off White or TAn Patterns. With The patches in a dyed Brown Color.
All of the folks that have helped me out with suggestion I thank you.
The Proto Gloves are Not Lined, But I will make the production Glove with Or without for an additional 7.00. The Liner is a very comfy Satin Material. it does make them cooler to wear for extented periods.
    Thanks,
    Scott, Mandalorion Outfitters

Re: Glove project Need your input

I think the Prepro gloves should be a dark brown with a lighter almost golden brown fingers and back with the dyed round patches. I really don't think off white is what it should be. Take a look at those pics I posted before in this thread. That is just my opnion and I could be wrong.

Re: Glove project Need your input

I'd be in for an ESB pair lined. Just as a little heads up for once they're ready for production.

EDIT: After looking at the Pre-pro pics, I think they look like a brown base with the fingers being such a light brown that they are almost white (Like a very dirty white). Just my opinion.

Don't look at that first pic I posted because all the colors are really washed out. Look at the 2nd and on. They look far too brown for them to be off white.

Remember that the shape of the forehand details are the same size for all versions....the left hand is shorter than the right hand. What it change in the versions are the colors and details (Pre-Prod. verion).

Wow, $30 - $35?! If you're willing to hand stitch on every accent and fingers (the way they are supposed to be done if accurate) for that little, more power to you!

Well, if a set of parade gloves are only $3-4 (like the pair I bought) That's a decent amount of profit, isn't it?
I am not a seamstress, so I am not sure what labor goes for for stuff like this. It just seems reasonable to me.

Re: Glove project Need your input

Hunters, The glove are inteneded to be as close to the film as we can get. they are made from scratch, and are NOT modified from a pre exsisting glove. they will be made to fit YOU and are done from a drawing and measurement of your hand. As for hand stiching YES they will all be hand stitched where applicable. If you are wanting an exact stitch by stitch replica of a film prop, accurate to the exact number of stitches per inch then I would say that these are NOT the glove. I will tell you that these gloves are intended to fill a gap far beyond a Parade glove. they will and do look film accurate. They are made By a professional seamstress. If a fan is close eneough to count the stitches on your fingers...they are WAY to close LOL! There are Other gloves available that are/may be More stitch for stitch accurate, and the price reflects that Accuracy. I have seen these said gloves and they are very nice, but Not everyone can afford such accuracy. I will let the pics speak for themselves. If you want a set of gloves that Look, very. very close to the film gloves, and dont/ or can not afford 100.00 a pop, then These are the ones.

As the liners are not quilted in any way the liner actualy makes the Glove more comfortable. really adds a Finished feel.

    Fellow Hunters,
So sorry for not staying on top of the GLOVE thread. I have been making several alterations to the glove project. I will have a few pairs of the preproduction gloves done a few days. I had a little miss- communication with my seamstress and she made a small mistake, but all is well now and we should have something Solid in hand in a few days. Sorry for moving so slow We have several irons in the fire at once. Thanks for hanging in there!

Re: Glove project Need your input

Thanks for the further update, Scott. Much appreciated

How much longer are we talking, ballpark?

I have a con in mid November and I'm in the UK. Are they going to be ready for then? If you can guarantee this, no worries. If that's looking doubtful, I'll have th get the needle and thread out.....

Sorry to hassle. I know how difficult it is to give accurate time estimates, especially when the work is reliant on someone else that you cannot control the speed of. I'm just after a ballpark idea, not down to a specific time and date .

Any info welcomed (and ditto Doug, pics'd be great )

    Cheers,

    Si

Looking forward to pics of the ESB style. I have Slave1's gloves, and while outstanding, they are a bit too big for me. Having a pair made to fit, is too hard not to go for!!

I'm in for some ROTJ gloves if this project is still a go. The price is awesome.

Hey Guys, I've talked to Scott and He is working Hard on this project. He has Very high standards and wants to offer us the best gloves possible. He doesn't want to post pics of an inferior glove and have everyone get discouraged. Trust me. After the AWESOME job Jango_Wes and He did with the Boots, he wants to make sure these gloves live up to His as well as Our expectations.
I'm sure we will hear from him Soon.
    Thanks,
    Robert E.

I am the point now where I am starting to wear holes in my S1 gloves, so I'd be interested in seeing how these compare to his before I invest in another pair.

Re: Glove project Need your input

    Thanks for the info Reidemiller.

Didn't mean to be impatient, but I have a couple of things coming up pretty soon and I need to make a decision quickly.

Is there any guide on timescale here at all? I'm not trying to rush the project, but the situation is that I need a pair of gloves in the next 2 weeks, 3 weeks at most. If this isn't happening by then, I'll have to look at other options. I may be able to get by and get some of these when I'm ready, but not knowing is frustrating. I don't want to spend an entire weekend handstitching my own to find a post on monday saying they are available and ready to ship etc. At the same time, I don't want to leave it, thinking they'll be here, to be told the day before I need them that this project is aborted/delayed further.

I'm not at all bashing Scott or the makers. I think this is a great project and I can appreciate that when you rely on others doing some work, it can be difficult to juggle annoying gits like me and the speed of the workers. Please no one think I'm cross, just keen to know if I have to bust my hump and make my own gloves, even if temporarily.

I look forward to further updartes in due course, and any timescales if possible.

Thanks to all who are involved in the organisation of this.

Re: Glove project Need your input

Looking for this topic as well, cause as Bobafettish said before, some time or later we're gonna have holes in our gloves, and we need at some point some back-up gloves to substiture the absence or damages of the previous ones.

Really interested in this project too, so keep the good news coming...

Me too, I would like to see pics of the first gloves out to see how they look.

S1 glove's don't last forever either, and sometime we need a backup solution. Just ask Bobafettish, he can echoe this words

Re: Glove project Need your input

I had a feeling this project wasn't happening when he put the phrases 'need input', 'accurate gloves' and 'we will start cranking them out' in the same paragraph.

It took me a few days to sew the pads on (machine-sewn is not accurate!), and I know S1 himself doesn't just 'crank them out'. These are a ***** to put together.

I think this prop-maker was trying to jump-start his business before he realized exactly what goes into making an accurate pair of gloves, much less multiple pairs for multiple buyers. It's a good thing we didn't all lay money down for this, a la the boot offer.

Lesson learned: Don't put 'research needed' and 'production will commence' in the same thread.
