Glove Material...?

I'm in the process of making a pair of hand stitched gloves for my mannequin. I always assumed that the patches on the gloves were white (then weathered), however, on close inspection of shots from Brak's CD my wife suggested that the patches were possibly the same material as the vest... tackle twill :facepalm ...any info would be helpful.

I've attached a picture showing the vest material side-by-side with a glove. I've tried to show the vest material at the same zoom as the glove so you can see the weave.

How are the new gloves coming along?

Will these be for your mannequin only, or will you produce them in larger numbers, and sell together with the rest of your Bobamaker stuff? (The gloves for sale through your site now look different, and thinner.)

I've narrowed down the suppliers for a lot of the items I'm getting, but I'm still looking for a maker of accurate gloves... :)

I've almost finished my gloves, I will then need to weather them. I don't think I will be making these for sale, the amount of work involved with all the hand sewing makes them incredibly time consuming and very tricky.

Thanks for the update, DAZ! What material did you end up using?
I hope you can share some photos once they're done. (And perhaps brief instructions too?)

I finished the gloves yesterday and I have just finished weathering them, here's a picture.

I didn't write any instructions, it was just a matter of plenty of patience with a needle and thread:p . Start with the base gloves, then just cut and add the white pieces. The only things that were sewn using a machine were the stripes of thread on the large patches. To weather I used a little light grey acrylic (very weak mix), this dulled down the colours slightly and toned down the contrast between the glove and the patches.

are you going to sell these later on, the old set that you made Daz are wearing out, is this a new product that you are thinking about doing?

I think he already stated in an earlier post that he probably wouldn't be selling these as the hand stitching is very time consuming.

And trust me I know what he means. When I made my ammo belt I handstitched all the detail and it was a real pain in the...hands!

Great looking gloves!!

How about offering the gloves in a 'kit' form? I.E. so all the time consuming hand stitching can be done by the buyer...just a thought...( sort of stitching by numbers;) )

Sounds like that might work... I'll need to see what's invoved and I'll get back to you. Thanks for the thought:)
