girth belt size

New Hunter
I'm starting my first ever Boba Fett mannequin and need to know what size girth belt should i get. The mannequin is just the standard size so any help would be great.

you need to have about 6 inches between the buckles in the back when you wrap the belt around the waist...now, you have to keep in mind that the girth belt goes over the cod and kidney plates as well...so measure the full length of the waist of the manne with that armor on, and subtract about 6 inches...(y)

there are a few things about the girth belts i've never really understood. when i ordered mine, i'm pretty sure i got a 36" but when i measured it last night it was only 33" to the tips of the buckles. i need a better understanding of the conversion rate for them.

ya, would have to agree with ya there...?? it's kind of sketchy, to say the least...i am supposed to have a 38, but its 36 from buckle end to buckle end...maybe they shrink some when dyed? anyways, inspiration to loose some poundage...maybe ill wait til after the holidays to work on that...;) probably...

I was told in an email from Victory Canter that girth belts actual length should be about 4 inches shorter than their advertised length. When used for the actual job they were intended she said the saddle makes up the other 2 inches per side. So a 38 should measure about 34 tip to tip.

At least that is what the horse people say.

that is incredibly helpful. i've been thinking about the idea of doing a small run of rotj girths for the past week or so, and with that information i could place orders a little better.

Goggle Victory Canter......I have the link saved on my work computer along with the emails I traded with them. If you have any trouble finding them I can post the link on Sunday when I go back to the office. They were VERY helpful the price was good and the shipping was fast and free. They answered all of my questions quick and I had a actual email conversation with a person. She even told me details about how they were looking in the back room and found another size.......yada yada yada.

It was more info than I probably needed but it really let me know I was corresponding to an individual. I wouldn't be suprised if this is small operation that just happens to do internet business.

I just ordered a 40" mohair girth belt from horseloverz.com. When it showed up it was ALOT shorter. I measured it and it was 31 1/2 inches. Going to call them tomorrow but after reading this thread sounds like they have changed the dimensions quite a bit. Anybody else have such a drastic change with their order? Now I am not sure what size I need to order. AAAGGGHHHH

Horseloverz.com or Victory Canter they both carry the Centaur mohair girth. I found Victory Canter VERY helpful and attentive plus they were cheaper.

victory was $17 & free shipping , horseloverz was $19 don't know about shipping.....ordered mine 1/19/2011 from victory. I'll let you know when i get it.

Just as a followup. I talked to HorseLoverz.com and spoke with them and the 40" girth that I ordered was supposed to be 36" so it was a fluke that it was 31 1/2. All has been fixed and new one has shipped. I ordered a 46" girth and they measured it before it shipped and it was 42" from buckle to buckle.

Just wanted to update everyone in case they are getting ready to order one. Running about 4" shorter than specified length.

so do you order your actual waist size or 4 inches larger... Confused a bit? working on my Jango and not sure of the length to get...

I needed a 48" belt to fit over my waist and the armor. I read some where on the boards that you need 6" for the straps that connect the two sides of the belt. So I ordered a 46" belt. It measured 42" from buckle to buckle. I know lots of measurements. Does this make sense?

No problem. I hope that was clear. After reading it, I got confused! Just a follow up. I dyed mine today using the method that was explained in these boards with the latex stain. I couldn't be happier! Yeah! Now if the rest of the costume would turn out as well!

Reading up on Girth Belts and found this post. Just to confirm, I should wait until I have the armor before ordering since I need to measure around me with the armor on since it goes over the cod and Kidney parts.
