hello everyone! I just bought all of the crap from Wal-Mart to start building a blaster. The stock was a piece of wood that I had cut at school in the 3D drill.

Here's the PVC pipe getting cut and prepped up for the revolver to be fitted in. The PVC was cut at 10".

You know...every can of Bondo (a car body filler) I have ever bought has been dented

BTW what is a 3D drill?

I used an X-Acto to remove the orange piece from the toy gun, then I used basic AMAZING GOOP glue to stick this sucker in the PVC pipe.

A 3D drill is a big big drill that takes objects in 3D on the computer and machines them into whatever object it can make. It can only go 2D though, since it can not pivot.

I just stick the piece of wood in, and when I had the object in CAD I just had it cut the piece of wood using a drill bit. I sanded the edges so it would be rounded.

...If you used a CAD Drawing to cut something in wood...I *think* you may mean CNC Router...not 3D drill.
Very cool, can't wait to see more progress pics.

Meh, I don't know what the thing is called. We call it the "Big Ass Murder Machine," because we stick rulers in there and other random crap just to destroy. But when our superiors are around we call it the 3D drill .

That's a nice blaster! But yours is the ROTJ style, it's not too different, the scope is mounted differently and the barrel is different. The ROTJ has a cooler design, but I don't want to go too far outside of my costume style.

I hope my tutorial helps! Are you going to make the ROTJ or ESB style? This blaster progress should help you either way you choose.

Unfortunately the toy gun I bought came with a partner, I don't know what to do with the other. I have enough parts to make a second blaster, I might build one and sell the blaster cheap in the Cargo Hold. I'm not in this hobby to make money So you might see a "Buy it now" $30 blaster in the cargo hold in time.

With some creative trimming of an x-acto, here it is. I do need to re-add the bottom part which I cut off, the sight on the back, the depression in the part I cut out, and the little knob thing infront of the trigger. There are some parts that I need to fill in, some parts were too thin for the thickness I was aiming at. I also plan to fill in the barrel a little with the bondo. I don't want people do see a toy gun when they look down the barrel!

Hah, yes! Did you get the middle piece that connects the gun to the stock yet? You also need the blocks that keep the scope standing, I will probably make those myself.

I actually haven't done much lately. I went on vacation for a week and since I've been back, I've been trying to get a job.

I ran out of moneys. When I start getting some cash-flo, I will continue.

What are you going to use for that piece between the stock and handle. I am going to try to avoid drilling into my handle because thats where the battery compartment is.

I thought it would be cool to keep the light-up feature.

Keep posting, you are giving me ideas!

Whoa!! That's pretty awesome! I might take apart my gun now to get wires going through for LEDs. I may remove the Bondo in the handle to put a battery pack in. You could build snaps into the bondo, so then you could have an opening for the battery pack. The other side of the gun's handle which will be the horseshoe piece will cover it up. You can snap it on, snap it off, it may be more portable that way; four snaps should hold it on VERY well. We use snaps on the Thermal Detonators here in Vegas becuase they keep that thing attached, there it's not going anywhere. That is fantastic. What did you use for the light? Your blaster is superb.

Well Phycho Andy just drew this item in CAD. I will e-mail the file to my Commanding Officer who has this huge laser cutting "thing" that will make it for me with a chunk of wood. I bought some Sintra, so I should be able to make the items that hold up the scope. Woo!
