Gauntlet Paint?

I'll be starting on my gauntlets when they get here (thanks Ruffkintoy!), and I'm going to compile some paint for these babies. I don't know what version I'll be doing but I might either do ESB color or ROTJ.

So my question is, what paint is most screen accurate for ESB and ROTJ gauntlets? I'm hoping for hobby paints such as Testors or maybe even Floquil? I've seen someone say that the ESB one could be Panzer Olive Grun 1943?

Thanks!
Bobo :D

Yep I looked at that one! :)

I was just wondering if anyone experimented with the colors a bit more? Or maybe has some pics of what they used and the associated color?

Hey Bobo!

Two things:

1) Since you're doing an ESB helmet I'd say go for the ESB color sheme. I plan to do mine in the Panzer Olive Green you were kind enough to send me which is what I think will work until I hear someone tell me otherwise.

2) What version gauntlets are you getting?

Cheers!

Hehe, yeah I did send you more than enough of that green eh? ;)

Well, I kinda sorta like the ANH boba. And I'm getting ROTJ gauntlets (I like the ROTJ gauntlets better than the ESB, and I'm not going for 150% screen accurate ;)). But I don't know about the colors, we'll see which one I wanna use, I mean I like the ROTJ color, but the green one looks nice too!

LOL! Yeah. There's a reason why I asked for so much (two helmets and two gauntlets to paint). :)

If you got ROTJ gauntlets then I'd say paint them that color. Whatever it is. Wouldn't seem right to paint them green. That's just my opinion for what it's worth. :)

Cheers!

Yeah I know what you mean. But thats not ESB! (but then again neither are the gauntlets..) I dunno, I'll still think about it.
Thanks for your opinion!

Anyone else got paint info?

Which version of the gauntlets are you getting? Since the ESB & RotJ gauntlets are different, I wouldn't want you to get the RotJ version and paint them green (unless you don't mind).

For my RotJ gauntlets, I used several coats of Rust-Oleum American Accents 7945 Claret Wine, knocked the shine off with Testors Dull Cote, and weathered them with Americana Lamp Black acrylic paint. Here's some pics of them in daylight with and without the flash.

Those ROTJ gauntlets are ''beautiful''. In my opinion excellent colors and weathering.

FLOQUIL CABOOSE RED & SOME MISTING IS ABOUT AS CLOSE AS YOU WILL EVER GET TO SCREEN ACCURATE COLOR FOR ROTJ GAUNTS...SORRY ABOUT CAPS...I HATE NOT LOoking as I type.

i painted mine rustoleum sage green 1933 with a flat clearcoat.it is the same color i used for my my helmet.of course that was before the panzer green color was discovered.as far as i know the sage green is the closest in can color.if i ever decide to buy an airbrush i would paint mine panzer green just as the helmet.from all the ESB photos i have seen the gaunt and helmet color look very similar.

I keep telling myself to "borrow" the work camera... I swear one of these days I do it and get pictures of everything so far, but believe me, in time all willb e revealed...Did that sound really corny?
Anyway, I have it on good advice as far as the Floquil Caboose Red goes, I have been having a hard time getting that purplish look though, so it's kindo dou-chromatic right now.. I need to wash them to get them just right. I just need to figure out what with.... It all leads back to Floquil and spending a lot of time in random hobby shops bugging store owners for thier opinion.
