    Gauntlet Idea

I've noticed everyone has been doing velcro or magnets and hinges for their gauntlets. I'm not a fan of velcro or magnets and since my build is made of steel I wouldn't even consider it. I'm drawing a blank if anyone could help me out but I'm looking for something that can "pop" through a hole with a peg/pin. I've seen them before but I cannot for the life of me think of what would work for this. Any suggestions? I'm hoping to just tac-weld the pin/pegs in place. Here's a drawing of what I mean.

First the hinges need to go on the inside of the gaunts. They won't open the way you show. The flame thrower unit will not let it open. I use a piano hinge as most people do. If you can get the pin out you can sand it down a bit so you can slide it in and out. The pegs may not work with the flame thrower though. That's what I did. Hope that helps.

Ok I see what you're saying. Piano hinge is a really good idea.

Piano hinge is how I have my Jango gaunts set up. They work well.

You could even place both hinges inboard where neither actually hinged. Then you have a slip pin either side so the hinge won't show at all. Animmator(spelling?)here on the forum put his together that way.

So you guys are suggesting you pull the center pin out to seal the gauntlet on? http://www.anzor.com.au/exonet/image...nuous-Plai.jpg

Also, syllander, could you post a link. I couldn't find him in search.

Also how do you guys attach the piano hinges to the gauntlets? Since mine are going to be steel I'd rather not drill into it because that would mean coming out of the opposite side... Unless I riveted the hinge in there that'd be the only way to put an effective hole in there.

    Re: Gauntlet Idea

I used piano hinges on the one side and popper closure son the other. My hinges are fixed with screws. Not the cleanest look but i can guarantee this gauntlets will never come off while trooping!
