Hey Guys, look what I made. I am going to be a pre-pro ESB Ralph McQuarrie-styled suit. Are these too ROTJ?

Thanks.

this topic hasn't been touched fo awhile, and I have a question. how does 1. the hose attach to this connector, and 2. how do you attach the connector to the gauntlets? the tutorial the bigaboyfett posted doesn't work any more... help!

Your parts lists is:

(2) Watts A-740 BRASS PIPE NIPPLE 1/4" X CLOSE (pink pkg)
(2) Watts A-161 FINE THREAD FLARE NUT 3/8" (green pkg)
(2) AMFLO 1/4" to 1/4" FEMALE PIPE COUPLINGS (#344FE-RET)
(2) 3 3/4" lengths of 3/8" wood dowel
electrical tape
epoxy

Sorry for the crappy picture! :)

awesome, thank you so much... oh, and as a side, I will NEVER shop at home depot. again if I can help it... so rude there and dirty as all hell. shopping carts were ALL over the parking lot, something you don't see at Lowes. so, yay Lowes!

Peter

The Lowes where I live is more expensive than Home Depot,
and I can't ever find someone who knows anything about the store section they work in!

Of course Home Depot isn't much better.

Anyone know the Correct size of the Hose?

it's 3/8" ID (inside diameter) because thats what the tutorial syas to use for the dowel, but neither Lowes or Home Depot sells 3/8" ID braided hose

The best thing to do is pick a hose diameter that you like, and select the dowel rod to match. You can usually find the hose in different diameters on huge rolls, and the sales folk will cut whatever length you need. Remember, you WANT a tight fit, so if it's a little too tight, sand down the dowel rod, but not so much that you lose the tight fit.

Here is an option...
Go to http://www.fitzilla.com

Get 3/8" flare flare machined nut for hose-side - http://www.fitzilla.com/Store/page62.html
Get 1/4" close nipples to connect - http://www.fitzilla.com/Store/page17.html
Get 1/4" brass pipe coupling for gauntlet-side connection - http://www.fitzilla.com/Store/page20.html

Just assemble on a dowel, but you will need tape or wadding (or epoxy) to get the larger nut to stay still. Good luck and spare a trip to Home Chaos Zone...unless you have to. Anyone have a blowtorch?

If you are going with BatNinja's recipe, you may want to downgrade to a 5/16" dowel or metal rod. At 3/8" it wont fit through the nipple without extensive grinding(get yer minds out the gutta foo!) which is time consuming and a pain in the ass. I've got mine all assembled except the rod. Plus the smaller rod size means less chance of error when drilling into resin pieces to mount the connections.

I believe that Orchard Supply Hardware does sell that size of Braided Hose.

I could be wrong on the hose diameter, as well as the dowel rod. I was doing most of the tutorial from memory when I drew it up!

The best advice is to find the preferred hose first, as I think the more accurate size is a bit smaller than 3/8". Then take the hose over to the dowel section and get a wood dowel that provides a tight fit in the hose.

I'll try to work with it this week, and I will update the tutorial appropriately.

I've been looking around ... look what I found . They're 1/4" with a little primer and some aluminum paint a little mist with rust or black for weathering and ta da !
Hey question for the pros . The second hose fitting on the right gauntlet .... the one at the bottom .... just under the seam where the 2 halfs come together . What does that fitting go into . I have a Ruffkins and 2 other sets of gauntlets and this tube .... or what ever it is .... is not on there . From reference pictures it looks like a dowel or tube stuck on there and painted to match . Can anyone tell me what they use there so I can attach these fittings?
