    re: Gauntlet hose connectors

If you mean how they attach to your costume you sew an looped elastic strap between the short and long sleeve part up near the shoulder under the spaulder.

Then you cut a notch in the hoses then slide them on and pull down your short sleeves. the short sleeves really needs to have a snug fit around your arm or your gauntlets hoses will be a big pain in the #@$

If you are making the preproduction suit the hose from the right gauntlet missile looks like it plugs directly to the side of the pack itself.

These parts look similar. http://www.fitzilla.com/ is a brass fittings company I am doing a web site for. The irony that these are on a Fett outfit! I am converting my Jango to Boba...at least I can get something close to what is on screen this time.

could these pics be reposted please

Although they'll work fine without it, you may want to Dremel or hacksaw about 1/4" off the threaded piece. If you don't, the distance between the other two brass fittings is wider than the actual movie prop. Not a big deal, and I doubt anyone would notice the difference.

So here's the complete parts list, per connector:

WATTS 3/8" FINE THREAD FLARE NUT (A-161, green pkg)
WATTS BRASS PIPE NIPPLE 1/4" X CLOSE (A-740, pink pkg)
AMFLO 1/4" to 1/4" FEMALE PIPE COUPLINGS (#344FE-RET)
    1/4" wood dowel

The Watts pieces are found in the plumbing section and the Amflo piece is found in the air compressor area. I found all these pieces at Lowe's.

The flare nut is not EXACTLY like the prop piece, but it's the closest piece we have right now.

    I hope this helps!

What diameter and type of hose is on the ESB gaunt? Also, is it just slipped over the end of the gaunt piece? the picture is not to clear.

    Thanks

    re: Gauntlet hose connectors

For my connectors I used brass compression fittings, but the pipes that fit into them were all to big or had threads. I found that bic pen casings fit perfect into the fittings and looked almost perfect. a little paint and you cant even tell they used to be pens

    Hey Soilman,

These are fresh out of the package. They are as follows... 1/4" Coupling - Female Pipe Thread to Female Pipe Thread (tube with nut hex center), the 1/4" Close Nipple (middle piece), and the 3/8 Machined Nut Short (the nozzle-looking thingy). The machined nut is too big for the thread of the 1/4 close nipple, plus I believe the thread is reversed, so I plan to epoxy the pieces together. There is a dowel tutorial..I will go get it and post with this.

The tutorial is from someone else, but it will be useful in these pieces. I hope it is useful to you as well. Later!

awesome, thank you so much... oh, and as a side, I will NEVER shop at home depot. again if I can help it... so rude there and dirty as all hell. shopping carts were ALL over the parking lot, something you don't see at Lowes. so, yay Lowes!

The Lowes where I live is more expensive than Home Depot,
and I can't ever find someone who knows anything about the store section they work in!

Of course Home Depot isn't much better.

Anyone know the Correct size of the Hose?

    re: Gauntlet hose connectors

it's 3/8" ID (inside diameter) because thats what the tutorial syas to use for the dowel, but neither Lowes or Home Depot sells 3/8" ID braided hose

    re: Gauntlet hose connectors

The best thing to do is pick a hose diameter that you like, and select the dowel rod to match. You can usually find the hose in different diameters on huge rolls, and the sales folk will cut whatever length you need. Remember, you WANT a tight fit, so if it's a little too tight, sand down the dowel rod, but not so much that you lose the tight fit.

Eric, that rocks man! Exactly what I needed!!! Thanks! I'm gonna replace the dowel with a metal rod instead.

    re: Gauntlet hose connectors

    Here is an option...
    Go to http://www.fitzilla.com

Get 3/8" flare flare machined nut for hose-side - http://www.fitzilla.com/Store/page62.html
Get 1/4" close nipples to connect - http://www.fitzilla.com/Store/page17.html
Get 1/4" brass pipe coupling for gauntlet-side connection - http://www.fitzilla.com/Store/page20.html

Just assemble on a dowel, but you will need tape or wadding (or epoxy) to get the larger nut to stay still. Good luck and spare a trip to Home Chaos Zone...unless you have to. Anyone have a blowtorch?

    re: Gauntlet hose connectors

If you are going with BatNinja's recipe, you may want to downgrade to a 5/16" dowel or metal rod. At 3/8" it wont fit through the nipple without extensive grinding(get yer minds out the gutta foo!) which is time consuming and a pain in the ass. I've got mine all assembled except the rod. Plus the smaller rod size means less chance of error when drilling into resin pieces to mount the connections.

Goat...Heh... you said Rod! and extensive grinding! Quick, we need a moderator!
