Gauntlet Differences?

I've searched the forums and looked at a lot of reference photos. As far as I can tell, the biggest difference between Pre-Production 2,ESB and ROTJ gauntlets is the flame unit on the left gauntlet. The right gauntlet seems to have been the same in all three, except for color, of course. Can anyone help clarify this? I've been using poster-board and making mock-ups of these using WOF's ever-useful templates. :) I just want to verify before I get further into this. My plan is to make the gauntlets out of poster-board then overlay it with fiberglass mat.

As always, any input and constructive criticism is appreciated. ;)

The right gauntlet is more or less the same on all suits. The main differences are the color and the new whip cord housing that is present only on the ROTJ suit(s), and one of these gauntlets is the re-used Pre-Pro #2 right gauntlet present on the ROTJ Se promo images (the last two images).

The left gauntlets are 3 types: the first type is the one used on the Supertrooper/Pre-Pro #1/Pre-Pro #3 (the same gauntlet) and ESB. The second type has a higher construction and has the extensible flame thrower, and it was used on the Pre-Pro #2 and the Promo #1 and Promo #2 suits. The first 2 gauntlet types were vacuum formed (like the right gauntlets and all the armor parts) and the ROTJ gauntlets were made with fiberglass, although its form is close to the first type, but it has sharper edges.

To my eye, the Pre-Pro 2 and ROTJ right gauntlets don't just look the same, they are the same piece. The weathering is identical, except for a few minor scratches that are only on the ROTJ and are probably due to handling over the four years between photos.

One thing I'm at right now is the whipcord housing (or its analogue on the earlier right gauntlets)... Is it s separate piece that fits onto some sort of mounting to secure the gauntlet closed? Because from both above and below on the earlier gauntlets, it looks to be a separate piece, and not attached to either the upper or lower clamshell -- or, if it was, attached after painting. I figure if it was attached before painting, the separation line would have been covered by the paint. The Pre-Pro 2/ROTJ comparison is what got me thinking so hard about this, because the whipcord housing on the ROTJ looks a lot more blended into the gauntlet from above, and yet the paint apps on the main gauntlet body haven't been affected by potentially painting the housing to match. Plus, I figure replacing that side piece would be easier if it was a separate piece to start with.

Thoughts?

good eye on the pp2/rotj right gauntlet. the weathering does look identical; it really looks like they just changed out the whipcord housing and the "shoehorn" hose connector.

Is the yellow gauntlet with the flamethrower ESB style the same?
But just painted different, with a different nozzle on it?
