today I have started with the rigth one, it's more trickie, at least working with pvc...tomorrow more advances...
bye!

I've completed the MK2 version of the lower clamshells... and managed to un-stick my fingers!
After Alan and I chatted about some areas that needed some minor adjustments on thickness etc, the final set of templates were born...
I'm really happy with them - especially the way they form around the arms.
Next I'm gonna try and mould the lower left clam and add the upper section to the right...
What thickness of plastic did you use?

Hey guys...
I go away for a couple of days and you guys are doing some great work with those Gauntlets...CP Wow!! nice work there my freind....(y)(y)

CGN... I used 1mm Foamex board and layered it with the inner and outer halves, then included another 'rim' to give the clams further depth? Hope that helps? or I can send ya some pics if ya want?

Kash... I cannot see your pic? :(

Wow!! Everyone's gauntlets look amazing!!! ~hides mess~

Ahem, so I have a question... Can someone post a picture of the back end of the left gauntlet? I cannot figure it out! Or find a picture... It has the strange little cut out, and...I'm not really sure what's going on. Any help would be awesome!!!! PM's work too. :)

I'll post a picture of the right gaunt as soon as its cleaned up and less embarrassing looking... lol It's sturdy though! I can through it at the wall without worry. ;)

thanxs Kasssh, thanxs Mojo...
Violentyoda, this is a pic from a member (is he don't want I show this one, I will remove it...) is the only I have thats show the back of it...
hope that help

What technique are you guys using to shape your cuffs. The greeble parts of the gauntlets are no big deal, but I cant figure out the clam shell. I get curled ends, warping etc.

Any pointers would be helpfull:)
ciao

Hiya, If you are using 1mm Sintra? try cutting the clam shell shape with the 'grain' running lengthways - YES it has a grain of sorts... this will enable you to warm it through in hot water (not boiling) and keep the curl/form without deforming the sides.. ;)

That is awesome advice. Thanks didnt even think about the grain. Hmm. gonna have to try it with the other clamshell. You my friend. are awesome:)

Hey guys.. just a couple of updates, first the upper clamshell for the right Gauntlet, secondly the outer section to the right Gauntlet... More to follow when I have formed the lower clamshells (when I get the materials :()

Hay mojo, i noticed one one of your clamshells you did a slice and dice job then wrapped it. Did you use sintra and not cut all the way through, and just use that as a nice controlled bend then bondo it?

That seems like it would be the way to go, as long as your patient wiht the scoring

Ok, I'm still a relative newb to the world of Fett but try as I might I can't determine if these WOF gauntlet blueprints are for the ROTJ or ESB version. Because I'm going to have to make the ROTJ gauntlets.

Someone care to enlighten me? Without the lynching,

Thanks. ;)

No worries, I just recently finished construction on my gauntlets using these patterns. All the parts are there in files if you want to do ESB or ROTJ.

Still have some work to do on them, but all in all they turned out pretty good. I'll try to get some better pictures

I guess I didn't word that very well... I was interested in finding out exactly what the diffs are between the 2 versions. Sorry. :p No worries though, I'll keep lookin around. ;)
