    FOUR slot beacons

Well people as I promised in my flame thrower thread, Here is the pics of the beacon I made.
It is 2 1/2 inches top to bottom.

I want EVERYONES feedback on the size of this. If it needs to be bigger, I need to know.

I don't know the price yet.

I need to know how big to make them first. ALL of you need to get in on the size debate.

As for how its lit up.....I held a mini mag to the bottom of it to show that it is hollow. The bottom will be threaded and a hollow nut will be used to secure it to the jet pack. If you want to run wires and an led up through it, it can be done easily.

    Again..........Size matters here .

Oooh man! That looks really good.

Could we see a pic of the beacon next to something for size reference?

Could you take a dimension for the ID compared to the size of the min mag?

That looks awesome!! Well, I can't give any feedback on size, because you and everyone else will know more about that. But I do think it looks right on!

Wizardofflight and I have spoke and the beacon is made to fit a 15 inch scale Jet Pack.
The MLC V.1 I have is 16 1/2 inches. Thats why I am asking everyone for feed back.

That came out looking GREAT! Beautiful job.

I can work up a size comparison drawing showing what the difference would be for the beacon between a 16.5" JP and a 15" JP, if that will help?

    Re: FOUR slot beacons

psberetta here are the comparisons. You can ignore my last e-mail I just saw your post.

Here is a comparison shot of the two different sized beacons, one for the 16.5” and for the 15” wide jet packs.
    Depending which pack you have will dictate which beacon should be produce. So the question is;

    What size is everyone’s JP?

For reference here is a shot showing a comparison between the drawings and the studio jet pack,
to give an idea of the proper scale.

I'm leaning toward 2-3/4" Also how bout making it into a kit with the stabilizer too. You have my interest as long as it's not super expensive.

i'll measure my JP later tonight. i echo that comment about adding a stabilizer too.

it looks like you've really nailed the look, particularly with the slots cut all around the top, not just on one side.

    very, very nice

    Re: FOUR slot beacons

What are we measuring on the jet pack to determine the size??

Once someone tells me, I will measure my BM jet pack when I get home.

Oh.. and I'd be in for a beacon/stabilizer kit!

The width measurement is taken from the outer edge of the tank housing on either side (does not include the thrusters)

Must not give in to peer pressure.......Oops...........I did.

Well, Ripcode had a good idea.

Here is the Stabilizer and Beacon combo. The last pic I used the flash. I will more than likely be offering BOTH sizes of the Beacon and the Stabilizer. Sold separate or as a pair.

These are looking really good! I think 2.75 inches in height is right which should include a slightly round nub at the peak which is missing on your beacon and that detail is visible from the BF cd JP closeup. The stabilizer is at 1.5 inches in comparison and has diagonal criss-cross hatch detailing around the top 1/4 inch area.

    Re: FOUR slot beacons

The AOSW JP version has a different beacon than all the other versions of the JP that I have researched and it does have a slight dome on the top. If you check out my JP blueprints it shows both. But the AOSW is the only one that I have found that has that feature. Also it is completely different dimensionally. I like this version myself the dome looks a little out of place in my opinion.

There are probably slight differences in the overall dimensions, but I definatly notice the slots being closer together on the alternate one.

I scuffed it a little with 1000 grit.

    SEEKER, Thanks

TD/TB-352, no price yet......The large ones should fit the MLC 1 & 2.

Man, that does look like the bulb sticking out. You can kinda see something behind the four slots(lower two). Might be the rest of the bulb?

Here is a side by side comparison of the 2 different beacons. Besides the slots being different the middle section is slightly higher, not big differences I'll admit, but when you have gone as crazy as I have with the research it becomes a "BIG difference" Sorry gone a little over the top, been a long day.

Nice research work, Alan. I'm wondering if that little nub could also be a screw of some sort. Right towards the bottom of the round nub, there seems to be a very thin break line right before it reaches the plane of the main beacon. Either beacon versions works for me. thanks.

As per WoF instructions, measure your jet pack at the "Outside of the tanks".
If it is 15 inches you will need the small one.....2 1/2 inches.
If it is larger, you will need the bigger of the two.... 2 3/4 inches.

I'm not going to be able to access the internet again untill THURSDAY.
By then I will have a COMBO price and "sold separately" price.

I measured my BM jtepack. it is 15.5" wide. His resin beacon is 2.75 tall so that is the one I want.

    I want the combo package!

The combo comes with a drink right?

If anyone sends psberetta a PM, don't expect a reply right away, as he'll be offline for a few days.
