First Build WIP

Hey everyone,

I'm brand new here and really don't have much experience doing anything like this but I figured I'd post what I've been working on anyway. I recently decided I wanted to teach myself blacksmithing as a hobbyist. My first project had to be something that didn't require a lot of complexities or tools (which I'm still purchasing) but I ended up doing this the last two days with hand tools. Not quite finished, I still have to bend each piece into shape and do the painting on top. What is recommended for a Flak Vest? I'm going for a ESB Boba Build.

Weird I don't know why my pictures keep going upside down... But here's more progress. I didn't follow specifics from the movie, I like more damage then what the movie had. Let me know what you think. I'll likely add some blaster scars with a lighter or torch.

Reworking and experimenting on some things.. This is a test model and not the final project. For that I'll follow stencils and use other paints.

The shape looks pretty good...I would consider taking a look at Rafs stencils as you will find the longer you lurk on this board, the more developed your "eye for detail" becomes. Your off to a great start no doubt buddy ; ).

Thanks dynamic, appreciate it. My only issue with the steel is doing the paint and being able to chip away tiny details without making bigger blockier shapes. Does anyone know if I should spray it with some sealant? Any tutorials for painting/ damaging things?
