A few armor questions

Well I have some armor pieces now with more on order. The questions I have are about the back and collar pieces and the cod and kidney pieces. Are the cod and kidney supposed to be connected? How do the back and collar overlap? Is the collar on top? I was told from the seller that the cod and kidney are BM and there is no way they will connect to each other. I'm 6'4" and around 230 so they are several inches apart.

Yes, the kidney and the cod are supposed to overlap at the sides with the cod on top. Same goes with the back and collar with the collar on top. I also have BM cod and kidney and they cannot connect in the right way, so I attached snaps on the inside and an elastic in between.

I have the same problem with the cod and butt piece. The other belts like the girth and ammo belt
Will hide it some. If you are going for 501st approval best to contact your local gml. To my knowledge
You can get approved without the pieces actually overlapping, but don't quote me on that. I'm still building
My fett and I know there are much more qualified people here that can answer definitively.

If they are supposed to overlap, shouldn't the maker ensure that they would be long enough? I wonder if those pieces are actually BM parts. Do either of you have his armor? What if I had a piece that would connect the two together that was painted the same color?

One reason I can think of why some peoples parts dont over lap is a lot of this stuff is made from molds and templates. Everyones body is different, so the molds would fit everyone differently. I have delt with DaZ (bobamaker) and I can say his stuff is top notch. I have not bought any armor from him, do to his huge production times and the shipping costs from overseas, but everything I have ever saw from him is top quality. So if you got some real BM pieces, im sure its good stuff. You just gotta make it work to fit your body. I have found the most important part of the costume is making sure the paint scheme is accurate, as well as the weathering and stuff like that.

You also will have some major trouble sitting if your kidney and cod are attached in the screen-used way. There is no room for flex or for angular movement. Your belts will totally hide the attachment site anyway.

For the collar and back pieces, what if I butt them together and have a piece underneath that links them together? That would give me a little more room. As for the cod and kidney, I may have to do something like that but include some elastic to allow for more movement. I got my neck seal and vest from LS4U today, so now I actually have some soft parts now. Does the back get connected to the vest? Is there a post somewhere that discusses how the entire suit gets put on (like what belt the ammo pouches go on)? I am thinking when I get my chest armor from BM that I will use the bolt and eyelet method to attach the armor to the vest, but since I won't be getting the armor until February, I have plenty of time to change my mind.

No the back plate is only attached to the collar with screws that go through the collar and back. The rest of it is held firm by being squeezed between your back and the jetpack. With an accurate metal frame harness it should sit very stable.
