FETTPRIDE: ESB Side Arm Holster is a GO, Accepting Payments

Wow  We might have to do this in two runs

A little update :

I made some progress on the molds for this, but had to set it aside to finish up March's activities list. Everything will be tied up on that no later than Friday. I should be able to complete the mold this weekend. We're getting close !

Thanks

Hi Everyone -

Just a small update:

Looks like I should be able to pull the first casting very soon ( a day or two) an get some pics posted. Then I should have a definitive price set. I do want to note though, that because of the expense of the special materials involved and the nature of the process for this piece that I will be requiring pre-payments. Last month I was left with a ton of other materials that won't keep forever if not put to use because of lack of payments made. It's probably a sign of the times, but I have to be careful too. I hope you all understand.

Once the mold is complete and the "green light" is given, this is going to go fast. I've put some other projects on hold to get this one squared away for you folks in short order so I can move on to those other projects. It looks like we're still well within the projected timeline on this (y)

More to come

:cheers

FP, can I get a close up shot of those buckles on the straps? When you get a chance of course.

99CentTaco- Sorry for the late response on that. Actually, that is the one strap that didn't come with the donor holster. It's a good thing that one isn't used ;)

-------------------- UPDATE ---------------------

The mold is complete. The following are pictures of a test casting to ascertain the amount of material that will be needed for production. It shows up nicer in pictures anyway (you can see the master next to it if you look real hard  )

A few notes first :

1. The holster will be shipped with all necessary movie modifications. This includes the side arm trigger well mod that has recently been discovered by new photo reference that has come available :D To my knowledge, this will be a first on this prop.

2. "Sheathless" is a relative term. The FP / GBH holster is sheathless, however, because of the aforementioned photo reference it is now clear that a small ridge of the original pocket still exists on the holster. It is unclear exactly how much. This was most likely done to keep from cutting off the end of the logo. It is still unclear though if there is any of the logo that is actually cut off. So I played it safe, and left exactly enough to allow the logo to be intact just in case. If we find later that there is a portion of the logo that is in fact removed, the ridge can be trimmed a little more. Better to leave too much, than too little.

2. There were 2 different Pulce/Nemrod holsters made back in the day. The original production holster was made as we are used to seeing in the pics in the first post (with the pistol grip strap molded into the holster). But because of the poor choice of abs used in production, this strap had a tendency to break off. A second gen holster was produced later that corrected this. It included approximately 1.5 inches of the original strap base still molded into the holster, but the rest of the strap was replaced with a ribbed rubber strap (like the rest of the straps in the pics above) attached to the 1.5 inch "base" with two snap/rivets.

The FP / GBH holster is obviously first gen, which has the strap molded in. Because composites have improved in the last 30 years, I don't foresee that it will be an issue. However, as a contingency in the event that this strap does in fact break, I will be including the extra ribbed rubber strap. If it does unfortunately break later, all that will need to be done is trim the original strap off (leaving 1.5 inches), and attach the new strap with rivets using the two guide holes that are impressed into the back of the holster. I will have a template available for this as well.

Here are the test casting pics. They're not high quality because i used my cell. The casting is a little dirty. The first casting out of a mold is usually a little messy looking. For me anyway. I also use the first casting to clean the inside of the mold

Now that the mold is finished, and the first casting has been pulled I've calculated costs. Each holster will be $135 *SHIPPED* in the U.S. Again, that *IS* shipped. I am unsure as of yet about over seas. The holster and box SHOULD be under 4 lbs, but I need to box one up to be sure. If it goes over 4 lbs, it will need to go "Priority International" which is considerably more. So lets keep our fingers crossed on that (y)

To get this ball rolling, this will be "Pre-pay" project. Because of the materials involved, I have to require a pre payment commitment. I apologize.

Orders can be pre-paid at any time from this point forth as I am already starting production to get this under control with so many interests involved.

If needed, I will start another thread to be official. For now GBH will edit the thread title to reflect pre-payment requirements/acceptance (y)

Payments can be made to :

fettpride@fparmor.com

Thank you everyone for your patience so far with this. It was a bear of a mold to make between everything else. It is my hope that this mold will survive 50 + members, because I'm not in love with making another one. So this may be a limited engagement ;) More pics soon of the straps and snap progress ...

:cheers

Great work FP, combined this holster with Mojo's new accurate PULCE Replica and you've got yourself an outstanding sidearm prop set-up for your ESB Fett! (y)

And as FP has mentioned, "THE SIDEARM RUN IS OFFICIALLY A GO", payments are now being accepted and order of payment determines place in line.

THX Guys!

a few quick questions on painting these...should a flat black paint be used to paint these bad boys up? will the material take basic spray paint, and should a coat of primer be used before putting the black paint on? thanks guys! (y) (y) :cheers
