Fett Armour Finished

    Fett Armour Finished

Took 6 months, and about $2k, but I finally finished it.

I marked up this picture with the people and places I found the items.

    Painting was done by me.

    (most are on this forum!)

I have to get use to wearing it, I noticed after I took it off and looked at the pictures, I was "hunched" over with the helmet, since I only stand 5' 10, I made the helmet/shoes make up the last 3" to match Bulloch's height.

    Practice/practice/practice....

I also have to teach my "helper" how to place items while I dress/put it on.

I forgot to put on the neck seal before the vest, and I was bolted into the armour before I realized it - so it "puffs" out a bit.

Forgot to put the knee's on for about 10 shots - good thing I used a digital camera!

and finally, the girth belt was a bit low on my butt, *sigh*

I had a bunch of people stop on my street to watch me during this quick photo shoot - was pretty cool to see their faces...

Since I am a believer in "real" weathering, I'm going to let the suit get dirty in a natural way, with the way I was sweating in it, it shouldn't take that long to get that war-weary look to it.

    My Fett Unmasked:

Thanks for all the help on this forum I was able to make this Fett possible.

and finally - an action picture:

    Only 6 months and a measly 2K?

Stonerook... ya done good... REAL GOOD!

Sew elastic stirrups onto the bottom of the legs. That will help keep them tucked into your boots.

Thanks Ripcode! Your help was instrumental in alot of things on this suit.

Here is a shot of the electronics - under two layers of black plastic, TK-409's LED display shines through pretty good.

Gauntlet also has a light system.

I think, however, I am going to figure out how to put some sort of AC unit in the jet pack to cool a water suit under this - i'm going to lose 20 pounds trooping in this thing!

    Great work man !!!

You used TKs chest electronics with BM armor ? How do they line up or did you have to modify one of them ?

Had to slice off about 1mm around the edges, not too much. They fit pretty good.

Here is a closeup of the slots

BM offered to fill in the slots for me to cut them out - but the difference is so small, it was far easier to chop it a little myself.

Thanks for the kind words guys! makes it all worth while to get them from fellow BH's

    Re: Fett Armour Finished

    Photo answers to two questions!

    Cape attachment:

I cut a piece out of evergreen plastic (80mm) to the shape of the prop part.

I then painted it green (hunt club) and drilled the holes for the nuts/bolts.

Made a seperate hole for the attachment to the armour.

That plastic piece acts like a stiffener to the cape around the front, in fact, it stayed pretty much in place on my shoulder even with moving around alot.

    Armour attachment and the "Keycaps":

I used a 5/32" drill bit to drill a hole to the middle of the keycap.

Then using a 3/8" drill, I sank another hole (counterbore) to about 1/4 the way in, just as thick as the nut I am using. This allows a small shelf to form, which the nut sits on (glued on with CA). the extra depth of the hole allows some room for the bolt to go into place.

The nut is flush to the bottom of the keycap.

Then using a pre-cut bolt (it's cut to length that allows it to pass through the two pieces of armour and allow the cap to sit flush when screwed in) and small washer, I go up through the bottom and screw it in.

Finger tight though! to much and you crack something.

I'm using BM's resin caps, will upgrade to the RussRep metal ones when available.

Once you get all the nuts in place, that armour is on pretty solid.

dude, the costume looks great! the details I'm most impressed with. money and time well spent...

now all you need to work on is the posture. No offence, only positive critisim, but you would look a whole lot more intimidating if you stood up straight. boba never hunched. ever. remember, as soon as you dawn the helmet, you are no longer yourself, but the most feared and respected bounty hunter in the universe.

again, great work on the costume.

Thanks for the pointers, but if you read my first post, I know about the posture thing

Since it was my first time wearing it, I wasn't use to how it sits, but practice will make it better!
