Fett 4 Real does Mythos

Still at work...made a blueprint last night and did a bit of carving today. Got the stock roughly shaped out as well as the reciever. Debating starting over to have a more one piece design or if I can use a wooden dowel through it to help with rigidity. Now if i use a dowel how do i get it through the foam? like the reciever is at least a foot long in itself....

Can't believe I missed this. To cool :)
Not sure how big the dowel is. 3/8" ?? Heat a piece of 3/8" steel / re-bar push it in ???? Might melt to much out . May be low heat doing a few inches at a time ??

Sounds like a good idea....I like it. First attempt at it, going to start over tomorrow.

Very nice start for the rifle.

I agree with dlzx9r about using the heated rebar that would probably work. I have used a similar technique building some things out of foam board for the wife.

Well I made a V2...most of the reciever is done roughly...needs a bit of finishing work...debating on how to coat the foam, Ive been reading all sorts of different peoples ideas, latex primer and plaster compound seemed like a decent idea? There are going to be seams to fill in so I want to figure that out. Also saw I can use gesso, so I could use the joint putty then gesso to prime it sand it smooth paint with acrylics...figure I could use a flat black with silver added to it, or just flat black it, add silver to the edges and then do the rusty brown dry brushed on....still a bit of sanding to do to the edges and such, more pics tonight after work.

Drew up and scaled the M60 plans not full size but have a good idea of what size the main portion will be.

yep when I saw the mythos statue, I was inspired with the hard time look of weathering, but I am doing ROTJ but I will follow suit with 4fr and that will be next instead of ESB, keep going man!

OK, so Ive been working HARD on the M60 put the DC15L on hold...pics coming soon I promise....I kinda wanted to post a finished pic not so much WIP on the gun...I shall post what I have so far later on its pretty decent but Ive run into a slight problem....I am having trouble making the ridges on the forward hand guard. Other then that Its nearly complete. Id say 80%. So standby for pics tonight of the basic layout of the gun. I have completed the barrels, main body, the heat shield, the stock, scope on top of the barrel, pistol grip need to make the trigger and trigger guard and few little odds and ends but really on the foward hand guard is kicking my butt...was thinking about scuplting it out of miliputty, which may end up being what I do, but not to sure yet on that part. Its not terribly light weight and this thing is getting heavier everyday....

So I guess you won't be trooping with it then? I am curious as to how you are going to do the lightsabers. The build looks great so far by the way.

This is for SDCC, mainly...I have a similar plan for the sabers using foam, PVC, metal, filler etc. Whatever i need to use....I was thinking about sculpting them in clay and casting them in plaster. Itll just depend on each one. Right now the DC is on hold Ive gotten better with the foam since starting this...the ridges may have to be left out.

No DC15L, the new plan will be a Seeker Sling Gun, should get it in a few weeks from Arturo. The M60 has been on the back burner for some commission work Ive been doing. Got the cape and skirt from Loanstar in thats ready to rock and roll.

Now to get up with Booboo fett for leather work. Lightsabers are on my mind now...not sure how I wanna go about them, want them to be legit but also not sure how much work i want to put into them. Any suggestions Im open to them. The zoom gallery on sideshow is great I have a great Idea of what I could do with some hasbro sabers just dont know that I want to use them to modify or go from scratch.

I have seen some decent resin cast lightsaber hilts on RPF. They are completely solid and you can't attach a blade, but that shouldn't matter for this project.

I picked one up one time for about 25 bucks. It isn't great but it looks decent for a trophy type add on.

yeh, that might be a good option, Ima research a little tonight. One is basically a quigon, the other is similar to obiwans the 3rd is something else entirely

Really want to find a cheap M60 solution that is full scale. And not a scam

This is such a cool idea, I can't wait to see how it comes out. I wish more people went this route. I'd love to see someone do a post-Sarlacc pit Fett, that would be pretty sweet to see.

Well, some progress was made on the boot knife, 1 lightsaber is 3/4 built...more to come as far as pics....I want to have something substantial to post really.

Debating if I should make it EXACTLY like the statue or go ahead and take artistic liberties...Such as the helmet is dented on the statue but we know very well the ears helmet didnt have a dent. So really thats my main issue. Do I go with a dented helmet, or make it accurate to what was preproduction? Im leaning towards using a dented lid, probably a FP/Asok budget. Thoughts?

I would go with a dented lid. I don't think it will make that much difference. Only hardcore fett nerds would know that the dented lid is wrong for that paint scheme, and I don't think anyone will care.

OK well not TOOO much to update here besides I got some weaponry in from a few places....

From A&K airsoft.....M60 Full Metal machine gun....
