Evolution armor HELP!!!

Active Hunter
I just bought a complete set of hard pieces. If anyone here has ever bought from him, yes you know his armor is ****! I wish I knew this beforehand. Of course I got my armor 15 days past the complaint filing deadline for Paypal, but I guess it's buyer beware.

Anyways, His armor is very thin and the back plate is cracked at the top and cod cracked in the middle. How can I remend this? Its suppose to be 2mm plastic I guess. Also, in addition to that, is there anyway to reinforce the plates? I think that would be easier than making my own. The shapes are ok, the paint sucks, that's easily fixed though. Any tips?:confused

sorry to hear about this, brother...but ya, you can easily reinforce the armor using Elmer's Fiberglass repair kit, found at Lowe's, on the same aisle as the stain...i would also get some fiberglass CLOTH to use along with it...

you mix up the 2 parts, resin and epoxy, same amounts (real easy to work with), make sure to stir it up good, then lay down some on the back of the armor (make sure to sand the back some to roughen it up), then lay down strips of the cloth (cut the pieces before you mix up the resin and epoxy), smash the cloth down into the first layer good, then put another layer of the resin and epoxy on top...smooth it out, and then let it sit for 24 hours...once dry, you can sand it down to smoothen it more...(y)

hope that helps...works really for me...:)

I have fixed cracked TK armor with paper towel pieces or strips of T-shirt material soaked in CA glue. This can fix cracks that aren't too huge pretty well.

Yeah the epoxy/resin sounds perfect... will give it heft and feel more solid. I also just realized I have to dremel out the electronics windows. Sanding and repainting too. Now I just gotta find a good suit & helmet! I don't mind making or fixing stuff...just some things I need a base to work with.

I had a run of bad luck trying to get a flightsuit from him that would actually fit me. Not to mention the whole I shipped it, no I didnt, oh wait its is now on the way BS. I wont recommend them to anyone.

All this is true. Gabe will generally try to make it right though. It's frustrating, but he is shipping me my third flightsuit at not cost to me. His metal parts and shoes are pretty decent, but armor and soft parts leave something to be desired. I was going to right a for review of Evolution's stuff. To be honest, making armor out of sintra is pretty easy. I have some extra sheets if you need. Below is some armor I made with sintra and spray cans. The cool thing about sintra is that you can make to your size using the TDH templates. A dremel and a hair dryer and you are good to go.

If you're offering up those extra sheets of sintra and no one else wants them, I'd gladly take them; looking to make my own armour but can't find the stuff anywhere :S

PM me if you like :)

Yeah that brings me to a question - where can I find Sintra? I mean is it an industrially known term? I am very fortunate enough to live like 5 blocks from a place called TAP Plastic that sells, you guessed it, plastic. I just don't wanna go in there asking for Sintra and they look at me like I'm from Jupiter.

Dude,

You can buy Fettpride's complete Armor for much less! Trimming it is a pain in the neck but well worth it. I used a dremel tool with the round tip to sand it down. I had very bad expreriences with Evolutions stuff. The guy will string you along and doesn't ship the stuff. I got a jetpack harness from him and it is of very poor quality. The cape I got from evolutions was not even weathered and did not look like the picture he posted on ebay. The cape looks like it is made out of a bed sheet. His neckseal and flak vest are expensive and inacurate. The materials are real cheap. I had to file Paypal claims for stuff he didn't send me and I left him appropriate feedback. I put Evolutions stuff in the same category as Starfortress.

I threw half the stuff in the garbage. I plan on selling the ammo belt on ebay, I don't have the audacity to offer that stuff on the Cargo Hold. I ordered shin tools from him and he never shipped them. His soft parts are not worth it, for the same price including shipping, you can buy a flightsuit from Ladysewforus. I sent the flightsuit back to evolutions along with the flak vest and he kept them both and never sent me a replacement. Throw that armor in the garbage where it belongs, and start over. You will be much happier. I made the mistake of ordering a complete boba fett ROTJ from evolutions and he never sent it. I ordered everything over again from here. I wish someone would have posted on how bad the stuff is. I see lots of negative reviews about Starfortress.

I must say one positive thing about Evolutions, and it is the only thing. Their Boots are not bad at all.
