The old pose was too generic so I'm remodeling the mannequin into something more appropriate. The arms are being repositioned with fiberglass matting and I cut up some of the fingers on the right hand and made them poseable using a metal coat hanger and hot glue. Should look great once the costume is on. Sorry for blur-o-vision!

Also updating my blaster with the new Sidewinder parts. I'm using real glub screws and the steel aircraft clamp which Sidewinder cast for his parts.

I'm afraid he's going to remain in storage until I get my home cinema conversion!

Still haven't put my ESB Fett back together but I did some more blaster upgrades. Also just got a Clothears flak vest which I'm very impressed with, and put in my order for a pair of MoW boots which I'm looking forward to painting/weathering. These will finally bring my display up to the level I've been hoping for. Only minor upgrades in the future, installing (if I can manage it!) the minilite into the gauntlet plus any more found parts if they are ever identified.

I was sick of the molex plugs forever falling off my blaster so I finally attached them with metal pins.

Finally found a Webley scope that is identical to the traditional ASI. Swapping the scope rings over...

I think the vest should possibly be bigger/baggier and therefore should be made a few sizes bigger than they are tailoring it to. Looking at the movie and publicity photos anyway it looks a lot baggier than this. This one was made to the mannequin measurements I gave them.

I'm more worried that when I add the jetpack harness it's going to look even worse.

I'm having the same worries too. Perhaps they tailor a bit too much their parts.

Think it depends on the version and who was wearing it. It wasn't baggy on don bies lol

I asked for ESB which appears baggy in every shot in the movie I've looked at and most likely was Jeremy Bulloch each time.

May 3, 2015, 11:12 AM - ESB Boba Fett costume upgrades. Latest upgrade 3 May: MoW boots, RS thrusters #118

I'm back with another upgrade! Jango Wes boots replaced with MoW. Naturally I had to make new toe plates but finally the toe spikes are pointing forward! Because the spikes are original parts I had them cut at the correct angle even though it meant them pointing in the wrong directions on my old boots.

As they looked on the old boots:

Upgraded the jetpack thrusters with a pair from RS and repaired the badly damaged rocket. Used mostly Floquils.

Fett will be coming out of storage very soon. Just had my garage converted and I'll finally be able to get some of my lifesize figures on display again. I've also made another modification to the mannequin so the left hand is holding the Webley barrel and not the flash tube (always bugged me since that's the way Fett seems to hold it in most photos!)

Oh, and got a metal gauntlet rocket from Dark-Side to add.

Here's the modded mannequin. Both arms have been repositioned again.

The pose is a good one and I'm sure it will look great once it's all suited up, but that mannequin is terrifying!

I'm definitely not the most skilled when it comes to fiberglassing!!!

2 Weeks Ago - Jun 21, 2015, 3:45 PM - ESB Boba Fett costume upgrades. Latest upgrade 21 June - New mannequin #122

I had to ditch that mannequin as it was just too tall and way to broad/bulky. Looked like Boba Fett on steroids once assembled.

Luckily I had a spare mannequin that was a bit slimmer but the pose wasn't good so I've chopped it up and refixed it. Left leg has been straightened and both legs are now further apart. Arms were straight and now hold the blaster.

Also upgraded to a metal rocket and hope to tackle the Ever Ready light soon. I hope it fits!

The Clothears vest that I got a while back turned out to be too small for the old mannequin once the jetpack harness was on so they made me a new bigger one. Now that I've switched to a slimmer mannequin they let me swap them back again

    1 Day Ago - Jul 5, 2015, 8:13 PM - ESB upgrade 6 Jul: Clothears vest with grommets/eylets and plastic screws/thumbscrews #124

Finally, I have the armor attached to the vest with grommets/eyelets and plastic screws/thumbscrews. I had a lot of help from Robotarot, so thank you Pete!

I decided not to use the large brass grommets seen in the various exhibitions but went with the silver smaller grommet size as seen in Brandon Alinger's Costumes book.

After gluing the plastic screws to the back of the armor I attached the plates to the vest using self adhesive velcro just to get them lined up. I then I covered them with masking tape so they form a single piece that retains it's shape. I then taped this piece to the vest just along the top edge so I could raise and lower it. I lifted it up and marked the ends of the screw with a black marker then pressed the armor to the vest so the ink leaves a mark where the holes are to be added.

I then used the punch tool that came with the grommets to make the holes (took a LOT of effort to cut through all the layers of the vest!) and set the grommets/eyelets in place.

There you have it! Looks great, man!
