ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
Well...
I was intrigued by all the speculation of everyone saying that it could have been a speargun of some sort. So, I typed in English spearguns and hit search and came up with thousands of sites....YUCK.
Anyway, the few sites I did click on showed the definitive grip and upper body of the alleged weapon in question.
Anyone else go looking for it and find the same thing also?

Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
I've looked at many spearguns myself...but sadly none have seemed quite correct to me yet.
I'm always on the lookout for better reference pics to help in the search. So, here's hoping that something surfaces soon.
Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
I still think the Bespin blaster works pretty well!
Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
Do you have any pics or site addresses that you've been too Jodo? Would love to see the ones you've seen . . . we can debate'em in here! :)

Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
That looks nice gwizah. The butt of the grip would need modifications to make it rectangular like the ESB blaster (which is likely what was done since I've yet to see a rectangular grip with a heel-rest like it).
Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
I've got a pic of a "Nemrod Clipper" that was on sale on ebay some months ago that sparked this new direction in the sidearm.I had the seller email me a large pic of it.I can email it if someone would like to host it.The trigger, and safety look close to the Bespin blaster as I'm sure the Fett blaster is.There are some newer models I've seen that have the exact grip as the Bespin with the squared handlegrip. It's out there, just a matter of finding it,.....for now my Bespin blaster converted to a Fett with proper barrel does nicely ;)

Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
I still have yet to find a speargunn that looks close enough to it for me to buy it.

Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
Believe it or not, look what I found on Ebay...
Edited...sorry.
Now I definately think its some sort of older model of this one.

Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
You're not supposed to post live auctions.
(especially that second one)
The holster used by Fett is for the Nemrod Clipper. I don't think the gun is a clipper though, maybe a different Nemrod with the same holster.

Yah, thanks, I was eyeballing that too, ben waiting weeks for another one to pop up....sigh.
Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
I've seen so many spearguns; it's ridiculous. I am sure several other of us are in the same boat. I agree 100% that the holster is most likely a Nemrod. In fact, I have seen a Nemrod holster (new) that is almost identical. I am also with Chris that is speargun may not be a Nemrod. I have seen mannnnnnny pics of Nemrod spearguns, and while many are close, none of them have had the rectangular butt-grip. If it is a Nemrod (which is what the Bespin blaster was), then it is the most obscure non-exsistant Nemrod they made.
Btw- What are the chances the original thing was brown? She sure looks very shiney and very stock to me....
Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
I hadn't felt qualified to comment on this topic, being a new guy, when I read it from the archives. However, when I was looking at the reference pics of said thread, I immediately saw something that I thought I recognized, and it wasn't anything to do with spearguns. Rectangular "caps"(counterweights) on pistol grips are/were quite common on match-grade/competition smallbore and airpistols. For rapidfire pistol competitions, the grip arrangement is VERY close to what I see in the fuzzy pics. ...My theory; If built in the UK, this is possibly made from a competition/matchgrade air pistol. ...No reason why it wouldn't/couldn't fit in a speargun holster.
Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
I don't think you're far off MM. I've noticed similar heelrests on air pistols and the like. Whatever it is, I hope we're able to find it someday.
Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
Max...
I`m pretty sure that you`ve seen this but I figured that I`d just throw it out there for some reference material.

Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
Ok. I've gone over those pics of the holstered blaster over and over. Did as much as I could to get them clearer. Still at a loss, :lol. It sure as heck could easily be one of those spearguns, except for that infernal rectangular pommel. If I didn't think they were crazy for doing it, I would offer that they used the stock from an early Remington XP-100. They had VERY similar pommel configurations. I've also managed to find a few pics online of match-grade airguns that have those trick grips as well. I just don't know how to post pics (Hey, I never said I was smart, just good-looking :lol ). They aren't even close though, just showed examples of the butts is all. It's important to remember that this prop was built over twenty years ago.
Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
Yeah, I know, this topic could easily drive us all to the nut house. Especially when stuff like this pops up:

This is just a custom pistol stock. Again, not a perfect match, but similar in theme.

Max...
**** nice find. And the debate goes on...

Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
Yeah, I think that may even be a custom for a Remington XP-100. I have a couple pics here;

of an early model XP-100. Hopefully it'll work this time. If not, the link is in my other thread on my custom blaster project.

Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
Wow- looks like you may be onto something. Anyone else notice how close this looks to the Marmit Fett sidearm?
Do you have any more info on this? Is this yours or did you find a picture on the 'net? Any idea of the vintage of this piece?

Re: ESB sidearm....The speargun debate
My uncle ruffkintoy purchased a spear gun along with the belt and holster. the belt and holster were the same to that used in the esb movie. So it is very possible that the sidearm gun was a modified speargun, though he also found a plastic gun which handle to trigger(but not top) ressembled the gun.
