ESB and ROTJ original paint colors for Helmet and Armor

Hi,

Although this may have been tackled and posted before, but does anyone have or know of a complete authoritative list of the original paint colors used for Helmet and Armor of both ESB and ROTJ costumes.

I know through trawling through the threads I have come up with the following

Rogue Studios' ESB Color list & Painting Techniques
ROTJ Paint Color List for Helmet

but still I can't find one definitive list that shows the original paints for these 2 costumes top to toe. Were the paints used, totally pollyscale / floquil?

Can anyone help or guide? thanks

Is my question so silly or controversial, that no replies have been posted? Or is it that this list does not simply exist and each to their own preference?

Humbrol might be a good start since it was the popular paint back then. The TK buckets & armor used Humbrol paints. I guess it was also used for the ILM models.

Thanks for your kind replies. I have read in the forums that Rogue Studios and others had researched deeply into the original paints used for the ESB costume, of which the ILM modelmakers and Joe Johnston used Floquil and Pollyscale paints. So far I have only found his thread detailing some very close approximates of the Floquil and Pollyscale paints to the ESB helmet, and another forum from Spideyfett with the some listed paints for the armor (chest/back/collar,shoulder and knees) on the Jeremy Bulloch ESB costume project. However, I have read in parts of the Rogue Studio's threads that he was about to research into the rest of the ESB armor and then finally onto the ROTJ costume. But alas his threads ended and all we seem to be left with are "strands" of threads. Thus, although I have come to the conclusion that Floquil and Pollyscale paints were used, I just wondered if there was one single definitive thread that detailed the two costumes from head to toe of Boba's appearance in both The Empire Strikes Back and the Return of the Jedi. I'd like to be proven wrong...;)

The truth is there isnt a deffienitive list ,(After many leds and attempts) a few of us have spoken to the people that painted the originals and only a few colours came out of those conversations,
And for those that have some idea of what was used mostly comes down to lots of testing paints buying every possible option, spending lots of $$ finding these obsolete colours
as for paint brand yes you are right about that , in some of the images of the originals being painted you can see the paints ,
Some of the colours used then are hard to find now, unless you spend months (years) looking for original vintage Floquils , which takes time (Ive been looking for 1 solid year and Ive only just gotten a reasonable collection ) ,
So unless you want to put in the hard yards your self , you may just want to use those list and do some experimenting and find what works for you,

Check out the colourbond spray paint guys, there's a green and a red thats very very close!!
Looks bloody good too.

Sorry to bring up a relatively old thread, but I am after the green for the ESB armour, the yellow for weathering the armour, the yellow for the shoulder, the orange for the shoulder. Anyone have any recommendation for what they used. I am thinking about just using the same colour I used for the greens on my ESB helmet?

Helmet green and armour green are different.

Here's the list I got from MojoFett of humbrol colours:

2. 11 (Metallic silver)

3. 74 Light yellow (around silver damage)

4. 154 Yellow

6. 132 Orange/Red (add in tiny amounts to the yellow/orange and over sprayed)

7. 79 Grey (added to the orange, orange/red to darken for weathered effect)

Chest/ back and cod

1. Halfords primer

Thank you people for all your replies. I have collected over the last few months some various paints from the Testors range : Polly Scale, Floquil and Model Master Acryl to match Rogue Studio's list for the ESB armour. I have also dallied in the dark arts of collecting some Vallejo paints to match as well. So here are my happy snaps of the swatches I have made.

and here's a composite pic of the colours which match that "famed" Panzer Olive Green from other brands
