ESB knee pad mistake?

Continuing my own research into the ESB Boba Fett suit, I noticed while Fett and Vader are on Cloud City, that Fett's knee pads appear to be upside down. Are my eyes deceiving me or is this indeed the case here? Also if they are indeed upside down, do the majority of ESB Fett owners wear them like this or how they are meant to be worn? If this was a mistake during filming, I wasn't sure if anyone paid homage to this blunder, lol.

Yes, that was a mistake. You could in theory wear them that way and be "screen accurate," but I don't know of anybody who does. Similarly, If you look at the A New Hope SE Fett, the costume is a mess. Most noticeably his cape isn't even attached and hangs folded over. I don't know of anyone who does this either. Maybe there is someone looking to be unique though!

There is an SE behind the scenes image were a gauntlet is on the wrong arm. I believe it is Don Biese in the suit. I assume they were dressing him for the new Jabba palace stuff and it was corrected before filming. I assume everybody knows there are two shots in Jabba's Palace where the film of Boba Fett is "flopped". Literally everything is on the wrong side. There is no reason for that not to have been fixed in the SE,

My understanding is that the mirror image was the fix. In shooting the scene the sight lines were wrong, so if it were left alone it would have looked as if he were looking in the wrong direction. This would have looked more wrong, apparently.

Yeah...Boushh was on the left side of the screen in the previous shot. If Fett was pointing his gun left (normal) he would have been pointing it in the wrong direction...and we all know this would never happen :) This is called crossing the axis - a very big no no in filmmaking. So they fixed the shot, but we Fett heads caught it :)

Yes it was no accident, but I doubt anyone would have caught the sight line being wrong, or cared. Plus, an earlier shot was not reversed.

I just watched the flopped Fett segment in Jedi. I think he is barely visible in a wide shot, but the editing suggests he is to Jabba's left beyond the throne. He could be any where. By flopping the shot, the arch above goes the wrong direction and different continuity error is created. If they flopped two shots they should have flopped all, but I still think it would have worked fine as shot. There is also a shot of Jabba that was shot as a pan up, but reversed in editing so it pans down. You can see smoke going down behind him and bubbles going down in his pipe. I think editors are sometimes more interested in being clever, than making the best edit. MO.

I do know a couple people who wear the kneepads "upside-down". One intersting observation they had was kneeling works better that way. The kneepads want to stay aligned with your lower legs, so you're kneeling on them, rather than with your thighs, and thus jutting out to hit the ground awkwardly.
