General ESB Found Parts List

MarsVoyager

New Hunter
List of found parts and images with their location. Items marked (*) are used in the front and back image.

I haven’t actually found any parts myself, this list is provided as a way to get terms to search for in TDH and the web. I promise you a universe of cool investigations published at TDH!

Also this is not a complete list and will never be. Some items may be disputable, check up for example the recent
Three Hole Borden Connector, Myth, Mystery or Made?

There are some items marked (?) on the jet pack, not really visible in ESB.

Ok, I looked into your thread Something very, very special (again), and I think that the two discs implies two connecting rods - one on each side.

But have you really managed to fit two Hirschman plugs on the left side of the stock, compare the images in the bojaGun thread INTEREST: Original AM Aerial Earth Plug for ESB Blaster or Darth Vader's neckbrace. The pictures from the carbon chamber show evidence of a third plug, perhaps the angle makes the fourth not visible - but is there room for a fourth?

Regarding the disc the very special thread the disc only really demonstrates that there are two discs although it does imply the second rod. If you look at this picture in the gallery you can actually see the rod itself (although not the disc - we can only really see that in the tiny bit of it poking out in the very special thread pics referenced. It may be visible here but it's hard to be sure) so we don't need the implication any more.

regarding the fourth Hirschman. JBDubz and I were discussing this very issue recently via PM. I have always believed it to be there but couldn't remember where I had seen it. Luckily JB dug out this image:

Enjoy.

Thanks! Haven't seen JB's picture of the left side before.
Is the theory that the plug was glued on the metal and fell off before the carbon chamber?

I don't think it's his image per se. I'm sure it's from an old Kurtyboy thread on RPF. I think Singleseat came up with it. Various bits fell off the blaster during the shoot. The connecting rod that is easy to see on the rhs is missing in quite a few scenes although the disc remains present, the hirschman falls off the stock as we know and one of the molex connectors falls off the rear mount in the carbon chamber scenes too. I think they might have used 'superglue'. It was popular in the 70s but only really any good for gluing skin to skin; for anything else it was pretty rubbish.

Guys, I really need to stress that this is only my opinion and that any set of correct scope and rings that achieves the desired look is a winner be it ASI, Sussex, Rhino, Jason or whatever. My observations in my post on most likely brand were to stress that the Hunter and Milbro are the only two thus far that fit what seem to be the logical criteria:
1). Available to UK (& Bapty)
2). Type 2 scope with plastic eyepiece.
3). Comes complete with type A 'tall feet' receiver rings and needs no modification.
and whatever other blah I put in my gargantuam post; a suitable idiom might be 'opinions are like bum holes' etc...........

That post has been so heavily edited and added to by me so many times that it is miles away from the original. In fact in the first version there were no brand markings displayed at all. I deliberately made it so that scopes were classified by type alone to try to draw away from reliance on brands. Part of the reason for this was to try to influence people away from buying the wrong scopes because they were the right brand, notably the ASI. I've seen many an incorrect ASI 4x20 non infinity scope go for a small fortune.

For the purpose of your list I think that the best term to use is still whatever refers to the ASI scope; it's already a well accepted term for over ten years regardless of whether or not ASI is the actual brand we all know what is meant by the term. In addition ASI was the first scope found that, broadly speaking, was a match and all other scope research is based upon it. Those that care for the minutiae have the available reference material to prefer that Hunter or Milbro are perhaps the more likely brands but in the end we can't know and never will. I think it's best to leave the accepted ASI terminology where it is.

and DVH is right. It is a great list. Ah, for the Wiki to come back; any chance the technical problems can be over come Art?
Or maybe a found parts sticky list somewhere like the consolidated helmet paintup threads that have been made might suffice?

Dream it!

Andy
