OK, I am not much of a "replica" kind of guy and I was passing this by, but after seeing those pics.... count me interested!
wow, you aren't messing around with these things! and here i was expecting a hunk of resin with some small metal bits glued on!
AWESOME WORK MOJO!
Hopefully you'll be able to make enough of these to meet every ESB Fett's wants and desires!![]()

Holy Guacamole!!!
I....... have just soiled myself.
Dear lord these look good!
Mmmmmm.... I don't like it because...
I just love it!![]()
WOW!!!! I gotta admit that I was skeptical of how they would turn out, but dang....Those barrels look spot on!!!!!!!! Great work!! I might have to get one too!!!![]()
Interested pending price...looking amazing guys!
G-Fett
Thanks for the comps guys...
But if it weren't for Volkerc's generosity then this would not be happening?
So who wants more pretty pics of the Ali stuff?
Ok I must admit these do look very nice and the originals were measured and remeasured to get these right!
Now onto the question I wanted to ask 'everyone'...
You can see that the original parts was in fact Ali but with a dull silver anodizing finish? I( have spoken to a very good friend and I can reproduce this finish on the Ali parts you will receive in your kits... but at an increase in overall cost.
Now I can do this BUT... as others will know as a whole batch it is 'cheaper' but If only a few want this finish then I won't do it as it will not be cost effective.
So fact is if the whole group want it... consider it done!

To be honest I would prefer to dull it through weathering. I actually kind of like it shiny.![]()
I would say, "YES", due to the fact this undertaking is to achieve the utmost accurate replica of the original prop and not just another close / good enough for now attempt, those level of kits are already available, so again I say "YES" go all in! Hopefully the rest of the accurate obessed group will agree!
THX for all Your Efforts here Mojo & Volkerc!
![]()
I would prefer the dull silver anodizing finish on the parts. Is it possible to have an example done for everyone to see? Might help convert some.
This is freaking crazy awesomeness!!!!!
I would say that a Shiny regular finish would be the best IMO.... if this is going to turn out like I think it will... there won't be too much weathering on mine....I want mine nice and pretty.![]()
I understand your request bro... but if you knew the industry, I'm not gonna send 1 set of parts to get the treatment just to show what it could look like? It's just not cost effective?
BUT, rest assured I will not proceed on the Anodizing unless it truly reflects the same colour and effect we are ALL after...
And I repeat - If everyone wants - everyone benefits the cost reduction!![]()
Hey Mojo!
I have to say, this looks FREAKIN' AMAZING!!!! That being said... My opinion is that start it from a "new" look, that way people have the choice exactly how to weather it for themselves. I'm sure I speak for more than just myself here, we have a huge amount of faith in you! If you think the finish most accurately represents the "original" starting point maybe that's the way to go? So if it had that (anodized) finish, and was weathered from that point, this would be most accurate. If the finish came from the weathering, it would seem best to leave that to each person. I think cost is one thing most of us is concerned with too, so it makes sense to ONLY offer one way or the other for such purposes. I say everyone who put down and interest to buy one, vote. The most votes wins. fair, no? Democracy at its best!I would take either, but my vote is: shiny
I like it shiny, I think that the screen used one was shiny, I don't know how it was really, but shiny for me.![]()
I appreciate what your saying SF...
And ignoring the barrel tip and the end nipple (as these were as they came to me - black anodized) but the centre prong part is actually anodized and not the natural oxidization that occurs with alumium...
But as I've said, I only wanted to offer you guys a real deal prop and it seems that this is not the case with some so... I will shelve the idea.
If some in the thread differ... please feel free to pm me
So from what I can tell from the real piece next to the machined, those two parts are black, with silver in the middle. But from this picture we're all now familiar with, the whole barrel section is silver. So its a fair assumption that it was painted, or chromed to be that color. The body of the pistol was painted brown, so its not unreasonable to say the barrel wasn't also painted, even if it started mostly silver. I again say you make it however you want it made, and we'll do what we want to themif its a matter of reducing cost, I'd still take it shiny. Thank you again for this brilliant work!
you ROCK!!!!
More nice pics to come by the weekend for the remainder of the project...

I'm will wait for the pics, but as Shinobi said "make it however you want it made" I will accept it black, silver, or pink![]()
Gav, you are the master, and if you decide to go with something that is just a few dollars more, or go the other way to save a few, i think those interested in this run are going to be willing to pay a little more, or less for that matter, to get their mits on one of these bad boys...i am in for however you make it, and if a few dollars extra gets spent, it is pennies compared to the whole cost of the costume so far...

I should have some 'other' pics to show off by the weekend.

It was 5 people, but whose counting?
Mojo - you only asked the question at 10:38 and threw in the towel on the idea based on all the feedback you had received by 12:48? Why not wait until some people have come home and checked the board?
I prefer shiny and to take it from there. Like Spidey I may leave it a little more on the shiny side. That's just a personal preference though.
The work on this has been awesome and I would be happy with it either way. Having done a little diving in the past I would agree with your assessment that it was probably not a shiny aluminum on the original, but would have been more dull.

man i was gone for a little bit and this is what i missed!!! lol
depending on price im interested for 1
Beautiful work Mojo.![]()
Nice one brother, I can vouch for how much work Gav has put into getting these right, he is a top guy and deserves the praise for this alongside volkerc![]()
Indeed! I hope that came across... Mojo and Volker. We all owe you a debt of gratitude to put this project into motion!
Hey Gav,
Awesome work so far...
I have a question or rather a request.
Living in Canada and with firearms/guns the rules are strict here,
and this being a very close replica to a working spear-gun, would it be possible to ship all the metal parts and resin/plastic parts separately.. I just don't want to lose this at customs. and also some fancy wordplay in the description of items.
thx
I say shiny as well, but I'll be in if majority swing towards dull silver.
6g - Just have Gav paint the gun all fluorescent orange, that should help.![]()
I also prefer shiny, but I'm not on the list yet. I'm still hoping for someone's wife to freak out and won't let them have it so I can take their spot. Now I'm praying my wife won't freak.
i don't think i'm going to get one... though that stance is getting shakier as i see these awesome pics!
but i think leaving them shiny is the best bet. that finish looks like it should be relatively easy to replicate with paint and weathering. so then you'd be able to do a clean and shiny model or a weathered one, depending on what you like.
I imagine Gav will make every effort to make sure these can ship without complications![]()
Here's a shipping idea to beat customs: ship it in one big box, but with lots of smaller boxes inside, maybe that would show them it's really just a kit...
Sorry, I still think this is the way to go:
![]()
Too much time on your hands bruv?![]()
I actually really like the dull look. But I'm still on the wait-list and don't know if I get the chance to actually get one yet.. so I don't know how much my words would count here![]()
Those are so sweet! I'm in for the screen accurate finish.
I feel I should chime in here, Gav (Mojo Fett) may not be able to respond to questions here or via PM at the moment as he has some personal circumstances to deal with right now, please everyone be patient and I am sure he will be back soon to carry this project on, thank you all![]()
Hope things are ok, or will be soon. No worries on updates.
I'll keep people entertained while you're away with my shadow puppets and quick wit.
Good luck with whatever you're dealing with Gav.
Thanks Joe, appreciate that bro!
I thought since I had a break that I'd let you know what was going on... My daughter had recently contracted a rare disease that inhibited her walking and has been in hospital for a few days, she has since had some treatment and has her legs have responded to it - *fingers crossed* she is on the mend and I'll jump back onto the sidearm for fear of being lynched?![]()
I have an 8 year old daughter that is my life. I sincerely hope she recovers quickly. Wishing you both the best.
Gav - take good care of that daughter. You and her are in my thoughts. I couldn't imagine if something happened to my boys. Family is always first.
Hey Gav, welcome back.
I think that most on this board have a pretty good perspective and understand that this is a hobby. Life always comes first.
I have three kids, one with a genetic disorder that has given him tumors in his heart and brain, so I feel for you. There's nothing in this world I would not do for all three of my children.
I'll be keeping you and your daughter in my thoughts and hoping for a speedy recovery.
Very sorry to hear about your Daughter, I'm glad shes getting better. Real life come first, always![]()
Hey Gav,
I hope things are going well for your little girl
Don't worry about the sidearm! your family comes first!!
We all would understand if you couldn't get it done.
we're all rooting for her![]()
lynched? you think that is all that would happen to you?we would hang you up by your...well....
hey, we are all thinking about you, praying for you, and wishing you the best....that lynching business need not apply here, brother...take care, and that fam comes first! my wife and son are my joy, so i know what you must be going thru...
![]()
Hey guys...
Thanks for your well wishes and PM's, you know who you are. We had a very good night here and the response to the treatment has been awesome, she can move her legs now and looks to be on the road to full recovery.
Just want to say thanks again to everyone this has truly become my 2nd home.![]()
Woo Hoo, thats great to hear!!
I'm happy for you Gav!
Hey Gav!

VERY NICE! :thumbup
Wow, amazing work!
this is going to be soooo nice.
WOOHOO!!*drooling and cheering at the same time* hey, not as easy as it looks!!
![]()
Wow, hadn't checked this thread for a while!
Glad to hear your daughter's getting better.![]()
The metal pieces look fantastic. If there's still a debate, I'd prefer a natural aluminum finish. But either way will be more than awesome!
Just had a question regarding the gun body, as I'm not familiar with anything that has to do with molding & casting: will the areas being filled with clay (I'm guessing it's clay, it could be pate for all I know!) need to be carved away to complete the gun? Is it done that way to make molding easier?
Glad all is fine with your daughter!
IŽd also prefer shiny metal parts, that I can weather myself.
Thanks for offering these!
Markus
Looking forward to seeing how one of these kits builds up buddy!!
Cheers Skip.. and congrats on the new born!
More teaser pics...
Have done loads of trigger and end cap casts to follow.

You're doing an awesome cast! I really like the progress pics![]()
More to come... you can see why the split internal and external mould would be necessary?
The hilt will be solid too.
Hoping to get the Ali tube (main body) tomorrow and will have a progress on that soon...![]()
Awesome Gav!!
How many parts in total for this badboy once it's done?
Thanks a million Gav!!
It's looking great bro! You're doing a grand job!
My Ali tube sample turned up today (As I was out shopping)so I got one of those "Sorry you were out" cards through the door...
So I'll get it on Monday morning and start the mods.![]()
Gav,
I haven't kept up with this thread for a while. So glad to hear your daughter is doing much better. I have two little ladies of my own and know what it's like for you when their in pain for any reason.
These molds are turning out great! You're doing awesome work! Can't wait to get a price so I can order one of these bad boys!!
FM
Don't you just hare it when that happens??!! Looking forward to seeing it Gav.![]()
Holy CRUD! I've been away for 10 days! I'm really sorry that your daughter got sick Mojo! I have two toddlers at home, and I know how scary it can be when there's something wrong with them! I'm glad she's doing better, and I echo the sentiment that others have said. We can wait for toys! Take care of your family first!
Oh, and, AWESOME!looking amazing!
