ESB Chest Display Sequence

My boards are programmable, so if you would like another sequence, I can reprogram your board no charge. Just pay for shipping! An alternative is to get a PIC programmer, and program it yourself! You can pick up a cheap USB PIC programmer on eBay for around $15, and I can send you the HEX code. I've only had one person brave reprogramming, but he managed just fine.

Hey brother, can I do this on a Mac?

Hello people, first post here.

After reading this post, there's one thing I find incredibly odd about the sequence: time intervals for each message. I know you, Rafal, counted frames and obtained approximated times.
I can't imagine the guys who originally made it thinking "yeah, we have the random segments, and now time intervals will be 0.77, 0.52, 0.33, 0.6 and so on". With that I'm not saying your sequence is wrong.
For what I've read, seems the blinking RangeFinder sequence was 0.5s per LED. And if it wasn't for the 0.33 interval on the "all off" state, I'd assume the display cycles after each 0.5 seconds and as it was an old microcontroller there would be sequences when it would work a bit slower and hence time variations. But that 0.33 at the beginning really bothers me, so I'll assume then they chose decimal values (0.3, 0.5, 0.6 and 0.7) for each message and then the centesimal variations is due to processor slowness.

Easiest and simplest options is usually the right one. For example I wondered if (maybe) they directly wired some outputs to certain segments, instead of multiplexing. But after researching, answer is no. And makes sense, as it would be far more complicated.

I think you are right regarding the time sequence being consistent in real life, but my only source was the movie, which might have different speed between scenes or during a particular scene, due to editing, encoding and so on. If I add the time of each sequence, then divide the total with 13 (in this case I used the 13 step sequence) I got an average of 0,6 second, but the 0,5 might work as well.

Take a look at www.jameco.com. You'll find the 7-segment displays there. No need to reinvent the wheel...
Yeah, I like Jameco and other sites that sell electronic components, but for the quantities I buy it feels like shipping kills it.

If you're willing to dig on AliExpress and eBay I usually find simple components for dirt cheap, assuming you're OK waiting a bit for shipping.

Also, I believe the 7-segment displays I linked to are at a 10 degree angle.
