I would suggest starting with a helmet, done using a pattern like this with illustration board. A lot of what you do will depend on your budget and craft skill. Everyone here is helpful, so don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Before starting read all the threads you can find on "scratch builds" for ideas and gotchas, as well as general inspiration.

Good luck!

There really is no right or wrong place to start. I think starting with the helmet is always the best way to go. That is the centerpiece of the entire thing and let's face it, that is pretty much why we do a Fett in the first place. All the info and pieces can be overwhelming and intimidating to someone new but while you spend time on your build it will start to seem much easier. Not to say it is easy but it won't be as daunting as originally thought.

If you don't have a dremmel I would suggest one. I really can't imagine not having one while doing this.
Also I would suggest an airbrush if you plan to do the non-topical painting method. You can get some cheap ones that work good enough. Also if you do get one, get an air compressor. When I started I was using the compressed air in cans and realized quickly a compressor was the cheaper route.

welcome!
personally i started out with smaller stuff than the helmet. armor, cape, boots, shin tools, basically smaller stuff that's easier to paint since I'm also a newbie. At this point i still need to paint my helmet..although like others have said it is definitely the most important and coolest piece.

read through the threads! this is my first build too and everyone's very helpful and friendly.

I just jumped right in !.........in hindsight it wasn't big mistake in some parts. My first bit of advice is try and avoid eBay for a while as impulse buys can be regretful . Decide if you are really up for the build also as some parts take a while to get to you as the better suppliers have loooooooong waiting lists etc . So bits like armour , jet packs and helmets can take a while so you will need to purchase them early on. And also prepare for the obsession.........boba feet kinda takes over your life , when your not on here (that will be all the time. All day) you will be dreaming it in your sleep.
