Looking high and low to buy two items:
A voice changing unit to use for a Boba Fett kit
A sound and light FX unit for an EE-3 RotJ blaster
I have looked into both Plecter Labs and Hyperdyne Labs and both are out of stock with no plans to make these available in the future.
Help!!

For the voice change app use an iPhone or Android voice change app for 2$. Works on ipods as well. I have mine linked with an Aker and my cell so I can receive calls and talk to peeps.

For the ee3 there was a guy who did his ee3 before you could check on that. Another option is to buy the Hasbro toy gun and canabalize the parts.

Many have had success with Voice Synth for the Iphone, although my personal experience has had too much of a delay between speaking and hearing it. I've yet to find a suitable voice changer for myself

I used the Hasbro as a base for my blaster and kept the parts; it's not great. A bit quiet and only one sound effect, but I kept it since it was better than nothing.

If you can wait, I'd HIGHLY suggest the Blaster Core from Plecter Labs for your EE-3 light and sound. He only makes a batch about once a year but you will not find a better board. Fully customizable. Six blaster profile banks. Can power multiple LED's. So many bells and whistles (clip in/out feature, bargraph, weapon jam, etc.). Trust me, it's totally worth waiting for.

Do you have the pro version? By clicking on the "background audio" option, it goes live while the phone is locked and does not have a delay.

As far as the voice changing apps utilizing an iPhone, which I have, are you using some kind of microphone plugged into the iPhone and then using the iPhone with the voice changing app as an amp with the iPhones volume turned up or what?

The phone goes to a Y-splitter which has a mic on one end and an amplifier on the other.

Yeah, I'm using the pro version set to background audio. I still don't know why it doesn't work since I've seen a few videos of it working perfectly, including yours.

Yarg! So this doesn't seem to be working out for me.

I have the Pro version of Voice Synth for my iPhone 6, which I really like.

I ordered a 3.5 Y splitter from Amazon but I think I ordered the wrong kind. It has two male plugs and one female:

I ordered a portable Bluetooth speaker which can also be plugged into a 3.5 compatible device:

I went to Radio Shack and picked up a 3.5 clip mic:

I tried to put it all together, even with the Y splitter as it is and it all seemed to work except the sound coming out of the external speaker was so quiet, even with its volume and the volume on the phone all the way up, I could barely hear it!

I'm thinking I either have the wrong Y spitter or I need an amp as opposed to a speaker. What is the difference between a speaker and an amp?

Did I mention I suck when it comes to hardware and electronics?

What am I doing wrong?

Did I get the wrong stuff?

What do I need specifically?

Did I mention that I'm a moron??

Help!!??

Okay first things first.

For the speaker you honestly want an Aker...hands down. It comes with a rechargeable battery and puts out a lot of volume. If you want absolute screen accuracy Boba Fett's speaker was actually strapped to his chest behind the armor as stated in the prototype screen tests...something that would be hard for you to do with your bluetooth speaker.

You got the wrong spliter from Amazon. You want something like this (link)

The Mic from your headset goes to the mic female connector on the splitter. If you want to hear what you are saying get a Y splitter like the following and attach it to the headphone connector on the splitter above (link). One of the female plugs would connect to your headset piece, the other would connect to the Aker audio cable.

The aker comes with an 1/8th male to male audio cable which plugs into the Aker. At that point you are off to the races.

One other thing I would put a plug in for my headset I use. It's an under ear headset with flexible microphone. It has a separate volume control and more importantly a method for answering calls you will receive on your cell phone by pressing a simple silver button near the volume toggle. I modified my vest to have a little piece of cloth to tie my volume control for my headset at the shoulder so it will be really easy to answer calls when I receive them while trooping.

So not wishing to add to the mess but now that I have everything I need, it still is not working.
All I get is feedback. I am not an audio or electronics guy so I have no idea what settings to even change much less what to change them to to make this all work. It has the potential to be very, very effective, however I need help as well getting the bloody set up to even function. Help!!??

Sorry. I thought it was clear by the above posts but my bad.

So I have:
- an iPhone6 running the Pro version of the VoiceSynth app
- a 1505 Aker
- a single male with two female Y splitter
- both the under ear headset mike that comes with the Aker
- and an under ear earphone/mic head set with a built in volume control and answer phone button

I went with you previously posted suggestions exactly. It seems that the set up should work beautifully if I knew how to eliminate the feedback but alas, mondo feedback.

If you're getting a lot of feedback, turn down the volume on the phone to about 40-50%, then crank your amp. You may need to tweak volumes back and forth a bit. Don't put the mic close to the amp

I did play with the volume and unfortunately I had to lower the volume on my phone so low that nothing was coming out of the Aker.

Step 1) Hook your mic directly to the aker to make sure it works.

Step 2) Disconnect your microphone from the Aker and only hook your phone to it. Play a song to make sure audio is going to the aker.

Step 3) Hook your mic to the phone only and see if you can talk and hear what you are saying.

Most likely you will fail at step 2 because I think your audio splitter connected to your iPhone is incorrect or bad.

Ok. I used the simple under ear mic for testing. I hooked up the mic directly to the Aker. It worked.
I hooked up the mic to each port of the Y splitter and the splitter to the Aker and it worked as well.
This would seem to indicate that the Aker, the mic, and the Y splitter are all working.
I then hooked the mic directly into my iPhone6 and tested it on the voice memo app and it seems to work.
I used the Y splitter as well with the iPhone and it still worked. I'm stumped.

Hey,

I told you before what you needed and you did not purchase it. You instead bought an Audio Y splitter which is incorrect for your needs. You need a splitter that has a separate Headphone and Microphone jack like the one I linked a long time ago in this article. The Y splitter you have has two black lines as opposed to the three black lines that should be seen on the correct cable.

Again notice the three lines shown above.

If you have the correct splitter (Note again there should be a separate headphone and microphone jack as pictured in the image directly above) then the splitter you have is bad and you will need to get a higher quality/different one AND/OR the microphone is jacked up. If you have no feedback when the microphone is directly connected to the aker then it's the splitter.

Simply put the splitter's male end ONLY gets connected into the Iphone. The headphone jack gets connected to the AKER via the audio cable (male to male) that came with the Aker. The splitter's microphone jack gets connected to the microphone jack on the Y splitter.

Another note I see you are using the microphone that came with the Aker. It is garbage and will cause feedback due to how poorly shielded the cable is, that is why I linked a headset above. There is a huge difference.
