DVH Gauntlet scratch build! (2017 updates!)

Thanks man! :D

Well, technically to do what im doing will end up costing about the same as, or a touch more than buying a set of gauntlets when all said and done. However if i was to sell a couple of sets i can recoup my costs fairly easily, Its also a great feeling to be trooping something i made from scratch myself. So i can truly say, i made the gauntlets jetpack and helmet i will be trooping :)

I also will have the ability to cast replacements and do other versions all based off of these.

Production runs are definitely not cheap and are worth the payoff:D. especially when you have put this amount of work into it, these are coming up great!
Though if this was a one-off it would be cheaper to produce, and you wouldn't end up with the ability to make replacements.
And I also agree there is nothing like that inner glow you get from knowing it's your own work you're wearing.

Thanks zero! :D

Ok i put another layer of rubber on the gaunt, and then a final layer with thickener added to it to make it not run off waste rubber. the squares are "keys" to help the mother mold sit in the correct place.

Then i made the fiberglass jacket, or mother mold.

Mold making is kind of an art form of its own. :)

Nice and tidy :)

Haha thanks..and to think, this is the dump mold, not the good one lol.

I already got a cast out of it..i slush cast it super thick and reinforced it with fiberglass as it will become the master to make the final mold with. i started tweaking it but had to come back into the house for dinner and to show the wife that she does in fact, have a husband LOL!

Tidy Molds are good, I find they encourage you to work a bit cleaner, which in turn can produce cleaner Castings.
Ha ha...I have to do that with my wife also, I get carried away and forget to eat sometime:lol: She reminds me..

Ok so i took the casting i did, added the top buttton, and tweaked it probably as best as i can get it. It just needs a little more sanding in the corners and id say this top is done.

Did a little more work on the left one as well, this is probably as much as i can do with this one, so mold #1 will be taken when i have some time again. Im likely going to take a regular mold of it reather than a quick thinner dump mold because im going to need to make at least 3 casts to modify. A ROTJ which i will sharpen up as much as i can and also add to the side of it so it taper out towards the back, an ESB version which will be softened up, and a sharp version to convert to a Jango.

Anyway, here it is as it stands now..

Ok so while im working on getting the jetpack done, i am also working with Mojo and Keegan to do flamers for the ESB kits. Super stoked to have them on board. The first run of kits will be with aluminum flamers. After that they will be resin, with the option to upgrade. Im not going to be doing these on the regular, only random runs as i feel up to it and/or my schedule permits. So when i do a run, if your interested dont hesitate as i wont be sure when another run will be.

Mojo will also be selling the flamers on his own so you can use them with any gauntlet kit. So even though im not currently working on the sculpts, work on these is moving forward. :)

On a side note...the only thing i dont have for these is the dental expander...is anyone willing to lend me one to cast to include in the kits? Of course you could just send me a copy no need to send me the ACTUAL piece, i know they are SUPER rare! Id also be OK with using a 3d printed one, but i dont want to do anything like that unless the designer is ok with it. They will not be sold on their own, ONLY for the kits. PLESE dont send me another makers one to cast. Only if you have an original or a copy you know is ok to cast. If anyone can help me out with this one, that would be great! You'd get a discount on a set of gauntlets or something else i make for helping me out :)

Now that im finishing up with the Jetpack, i'll jump back into these gauntlets as soon as i can. i just need to do the bottoms for the most part.
