I couldn't wait. I went ahead and peeled the last bit of masking off the mandible and then pulled the tape off..

It has been over a year since I started this project and used to think the light was not getting any closer at the end of the tunnel. I now see it, and its a great feeling. I am really really really happy the way this turned out, even with the flaws I made.
I want to thank every single person who has pm, emailed, or responded to my thread with helpful tips and being patient with probably some silly questions I had. I am not done yet though, but damn its close.

There are a bunch of small details that I still want to add and I will probably do that sometime this weekend and finish up the ears, range finder and install visor.

Wanted to see what it looked like with the visor taped in... Haven't decided now I will attach it yet.. suggestions welcome.

OK, its been balls to the walls this past weekend trying to get everything together. I think I have everything pretty much done. I haven't had a chance to take pictures in the process because not only am I doing my Boba, but I am also working on my Wife's prop for her costume. She is Mafia Jinx from League of Legends. I will show you that also later on. I been back and forth between her's and mine. My helmet is finished though. Only thing left is adding foam and fans in the inside. I really want to get the noise amplifier and voice changer, but I just don't have the time. That will have to wait til after DragonCon. Need to add the switches to the gauntlets, finish weathering the cape, waiting for the gauntlet hoses to finish staining in coffee so I can cut and attach them, finish painting the rocket on the gauntlet also.

Question. Can anyone tell me the humbrol color of the yellow part of the rocket tip? If not, I may just get a can of spray paint that looks the closest to get that metallic look. All my humbrol is matt.

Here is my facebook, I posted a video of the range finder and made it public so everyone can see it.

Big picture update!

Helmet is finished. Just gotta add a fan in the inside and get the foam fitted.

My studs were 3D printed, They look more silver than this.. I used Humbrol 11 on it.. don't know why they showed up like this.. No flash maybe?

Shin tools, I don't need 2 of them.. haven't decided yet if I will wear them all or not
20150826_152135.jpg

Knees are done also

Was having issues getting the strap attached. I used these clips you put on for bowtie's. I couldn't figure out how to do the buttons, so I went this route instead. Work great. Need to weather the strap a bit more though

Flight suit doesn't look quite right.. too much maybe? Mixture of Black dye (which looks purple in the light to me) Used motor oil, and black primer can paint. Prob can take some sand paper to it

Pouches are done.
20150826_154824.jpg

Cape nice and weathered
20150826_154530.jpg

Ammo pouches are weathered
20150826_154006.jpg
Boots done, maybe a bit more on the souls of the shoe, but still look good
20150826_152715.jpg

Gloves and spats weathered using same technique as the flight suit
20150826_152633.jpg20150826_152612.jpg
Gun from MLS came in.. Need a lot of trimming.. This may take all day to finish

Still need to paint the rocket on gauntlet. Ugh..

This all coming together really nicely. I have been following this thread for a while now and am looking forward to seeing it all together

Deriak,

Love the weathering on your soft parts. On your suit the dark spots are perfect, just add a little more "dirt" on the leg areas between the shin tools and knees. Gloves and spats look awesome. Your belt looks odd, is that orange leather or just the sun? Additionally did you paint your studs metallic silver?

Thanks Rich and LB. Took me a year with moving to new house and Life in general. My wife wants me to do Bo Katan for her now.. haha.. Keep an eye out for that

I'm no ROTJ expert but I know ESB and thats an ESB anti-security blade homie. Not sure if you're headed for the 501st but the ROTJ version is different than the one used in ESB.

your a jerk for pointing that out.. UGH!.. I purchased all those from a person here that had it up on Ebay. I will be honest, I thought they were all the same, did not do my research on those. Thank you for catching that before I take my approval photo's

Crumdum, The belt is 99Cent Taco belt that I got from another member. I think it is the sun.. I may go ahead and throw some black mist on it to help that out a bit. I agree with the more fading up the shin pockets, Thanks for the tip on the Suit weathering.. Will get that straightened out this weekend.

Currently working on my vest. I been reading a good bit about the collar tends to be a bit tight around the neck with the jet pack.. I originally used velcro to attach my armor, but I went ahead and tried to do eyelets in the vest and attach bolts to the armor and secure them with washers and nuts. Then hot glue to hold them in place and also for a bit of cushion so the bolts are not stabbing me.

Still need some help with the color of the yellow part of the Rocket on the gauntlet. Having a hard time finding a spray paint that looks right... I need something that can be bought at home depot, lowes, hobby lobby, joanne's, or michaels. Think ordering anything is too late now.

what piece of the rocket are you looking to paint yellow? unless you're talking about something else, the front end of the rocket before the tip is a heavily weathered copperish/old brass color not yellow.

hobby lobby should have the testors color you need, they may even have it in one of the little model masters spray cans. make sure to use the weekly 40% off any one item coupon bro :-D

Yes, I was just looking at it and when I say yellow, I mean Copper tone, dont even ask me what color I say to use for the shoulder and knee armor.

This may have just saved my life

Was going through and saw you posted here also the same thing.. and this is where I got the info about which shin tools to use and the difference between esp and rotj....

http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f20/esb-vs-rotj-se-53093/

glad you saw that D. here is the 501st CRL photo for ROTJ, you can clearly see the red stripe on the AS blade so I'd imagine it would be a necessary detail for approval. if anything it's better to be safe than sorry...

Ok, guys, here is my flak jacket with the armor installed in a more fixed way. I was having issues trying to get the armor to stay where I wanted it with the velcro. I went with this idea instead, which after the first 10 screw ups trying to do these stupid eyelets... I became pretty good at it after I figured out a good technique.

So, my job is building jets... just structural part of the cockpit. Nothing really cool like components or power plant. The bolts I used are actually from my job which are some bolts we use on a private jet. I used paper cut outs to locate the holes in the vest and then after putting the eyelets in place I then came back and marked where I wanted the bolts to go, which was probably the hardest part being that I do not have a mannequin to mount it to in order to get it perfectly.

As you can see, the nuts I am using are elongated so they don't back off. I still plan on using hot glue for reinforcement. Can never have too much of that.

20150828_170130.jpg

So here it is.. Things I noticed that I am not very happy about.
The diamond gap is excessive but that also could be my chest is puffed out a bit.. still though, it's more than I liked
The right chest plate is too close to Ab piece to me.
The gap between the collar and top of the chest parts seams a bit large but referencing a few pictures, it seams there is a good amount of gap there.
Using this from the gallery as a reference.
Going through pictures, the armor seems to be shuffled around a good bit depending on different poses.
Too late to fix for DragonCon, but later, I may be able to relocate the chest pieces a little bit. Let me know if it's worth the pain or I should have no issues getting approved.

Ok, got my gun trimmed and assembled. Had to figure out what had to be trimmed off and what had to stay. I didn't realize the mold also included the greeblies into the mold, so I shaved all those down and used the greeblies that MLS provided...

I also made the mistake of taking off the original clips on the scope. I didn't realize they were part of it and are just linked to the clips you add on that actually attach to the gun itself, if you know what I mean.. anywho.. I went ahead and painted it last night using a simi gloss black paint that I had lying around. I started to use a dull acrylic spray paint, but didn't look right, so I had a half can of High temp engine enamel semi gloss black paint laying around.. Used that.. going to let it dry and will have pictures up later on..I don't think this is a perfect EE3, but it's nice to have something to hold while I walk around.. Later on I think I will do a better EE3
