Debunking Belt loop on ROTJ Hip Pouches..?

I know I am probably opening a can of worms, but ...

From the new photos provided by Boba Swede, I am now positive that this is the correct method for the loop in the hip pouches.

I think that the most common interpertaion of the hip pouches hanging off the Ammo Belt is by a loop designed in the top flap. This method, Correct me if I am wrong, is derived from the Pre-production photos of the pouches.

However, I do not believe this to be the method used for ROTJ. There IS a loop that allows the hip pouches to be hung on the utility belt, but it is a separate loop. In the attached photos there is a blue strip of fabric (probably a denim) that is stitched to the back of the top flap of the pouch creating the loop. The loop is not designed into the pouch itself, but a seperate add-on.

Here we see the stitching for the added blue loop

Just like to point out I dont think its blue fabric. I think its blue JEAN material. Probably a last minute add:)

I can understand that. Those kind of pouches are seen all over Star Wars. Dengar, Snowtroopers, Boba Fett, Biker Scouts...

I believe you are correct. Looking at the photo below, it appears that the loop is created from a single piece of fabric on the Preproduction 1 photos... although it is interesting to note that there is a stitch line along the top of the "loop" just as is seen on the PP2 and RotJ pouches. Not sure why that stitch line would be needed if the loop was a single piece of fabric.

Also interesting to note that is APPEARS that the back of the loop on the PP2 is a differently colored material... perhaps even the same ones seen on the RotJ costume.

Thanks for sharing those Art.

It does beg the question now as to IF the pre-production pouches were done the same way.

Cool
Don't know how many times I've stared at the reference pics & missed that.
It is a strange thing that we can "look" without actually "seeing".

My assessment would be "yes" on the PP2, and a "probably" on the PP1, based on the stitch line at the top. Can't tell on the PP3 as they are tucked under as is the ESB.

My guess on those (as well as the Albino/White Supertrooper) is what we see on the AoSW, where the pouch is stitched to the girth instead. Velcro is then used between the pouch and the backside of the Utility Belt to keep things from shifting.

Maybe that extra stitch line is because they used a bigger belt, and had to make the loop 'fit' therefor inserting something of an expansion back there.

Impossible to tell, but possible:)
