Darth Voorhee's MOW Gauntlet build

I finished these a couple of weeks ago but haven't had the time to post a build thread, so im posting it now :)

I got these from Got2BFett, they are the most recent MOW gauntlets. Unlike the previous version, these do not come preassembled with the piano hinge and clips. But i liked that set up and chose to assemble them the same way. Mow recommends you reinforce these with fiberglass so i did that. Sorry didnt get pics of that.

I got some piano hinge (sometimes known as continuous hinge)...

I decided to screw it into the gauntlets..

I then cut the rest of then screw pretruding from the other side. i cut a little into the guantlet so there will be a indentation to fill evenly. I filled the holes with bondo spot filler

i did this a few times till i got it as smooth as possible..

I then added the small clips. I made little tabs out of some thin sheet metal and a punch to attach them.

I did the same thing as the hinge with the screws. I attached one side..

Then i put the opther end of the clip in like so...
100_2916.jpg

that way i can line up the other side

i marked it..

...drilled thge hole and attached

I then put metalset epoxy on all the screws and hinges so they do not come loose.

100_2922.jpg

Then i attached the hose connector block. I glued with superglue and added 2 small screws underneath

Then we move on to the flame thrower...
A little daunting with all these parts! But really not hard to assemble at all.
100_2931.jpg

After some cleanup, i painted everything first. [[[UPDATE 1-2016 The white parts are in fact supposed to be silver on the flame thrower]]]
100_2937.jpg

Then i assembled the rear section..

then i added the tubes..

I then painted them up..

I also added the black "wire" in the tube on the right gauntlet. Its just a bicycle brake cable. I added a dowel to the block to add the hose and drilled a hole in it to fit the narrow end of the brake cable.

and it looks like so..

And here they are finished :) Complete with real MQ-1 keypad, real micro files, and the correct push button switches, NOT toggles!

Great work, thanks for sharing the detailed photos and build. I have a set of MOW ROTJ gauntlets on the way, and have been looking around for previous build threads. Now off to YouTube to learn how to fiberglass!

Nice work mate looks great. I really liked the clips idea. I used magnets on my MOW ESB gaunts they are sturdy but I think I will add the clips for peace of mind.

my goodness what an amazing build. my hope is when i finally get my gauntlets if i can get 1/16th as good a version as these i will be happy!! where did you end up getting the push buttons? also i love the brake line in the hose...think it adds a lot of depth.
amazing work as always lou!

This is sick. Will definitely help me paint my BM ones when I get them. Until I can justify buying an aluminium rocket for it, what are the methods for painting the rocket?

I can do a cold cast one for ya....
... or just paint the body silver and mask as per reference photos for ESB or ROTJ , paint matt black, paint the cone copper. Nothin to complicated

Sweet job! this will be my next project after my JP...where did you get the aluminum parts that were not in the MOW kit?

Thanks guys.

All the aluminum tubes for the flamethrower came with the kit. The rocket is from TK826. The switches i linked too a few posts up. The MQ-1 i got from e-bay :) The die cast dental expander was from Kurtyboy on here. Darts are Mojo-Fett's, also from here.

I really like the clips inside the Gauntlet...but how hard is it to access those when you want to take the gauntlets off?
BTW-Nice build!

Im not going to lie..they are a bit of a pain...not so much to get to, but sometimes to line em up to get em closed. You need to figit a lil to get them open as well. BUT they are the most secure way i have ever had. They never open or "crunch" from the sound of velcro.

These clips are exactly what MOW used to include when you bought his gauntlets a few years back fully assembled. I was hooked on those things ever since. You really cant suit up Fett fully by yourself anyway, so my wife just puts em on and takes em off of me, that makes it easier, but i CAN do it myself.

Thanks :)

what an awesome way to hinge and secure gauntlets. i may include this design for my partners custome build she wants. (only issue is they will be better looking than mine now lol) great work
