Damaged jet pack appears in RotJ SE before skiff scene

if you mean the quick scean that he walks by in then i cant tell, but if you mean the scean when he touches rystals cheek then yes it is in it.

Two places where I cant see for sure if the jet pack is damage, is when He takes off from the deck of the sail barge, and when He slams into the side of it and rolls into the sarlacc.

And something that always got to me, if Boba Fett was a seasoned veteran warrior, why why why would he confront a jedi in hand to hand combat. Obviously he went in to kill luke because he had his blaster aimed right at him, why didnt he burn him to a crisp right there? He didnt fire and darts, from his knee's or shoes.

And why would He take his eyes off of chewbacca and han, i mean chewie almost killed him in SotE....if anything in the trilogy needs fixing it that scene, Boba looks like a rookie.

Because Lucas was killing-off the character. Boba was MEANT to die, which is why he does so many uncharacteristic things. Had the scene been written as a "real fight", odds are the outcome would have played-out much differently... ;)

It probably really twerked George when the fans demanded that Fett live and they brought him back to life with the novel where he escapes the Sarlacc and is nursed back to health by Dengar.

Fett: The character that Lucas couldn't kill!

If you listen to the DVD comentery george lucas didnt know that Boba was gunna become a major fav of the fans other wise he would have made it a real battle. he also says he thought of puting in a scean with him crawlin out of the pit but he thought it wouldnt blend in to well with the film.

PS. I HATE BOBAS NEW VOICE!!!!!!!!:angry

Oh man that would have been awesome to see Fett blast out of the sarlacc. That interview confirms Boba Fett didnt die in the sarlacc like hte previously stated, to even mention the fact He was thinking of putting it in is proof enough for me.

What I think would have been perfect is this.

When chewbacca is flying around waiting for clearance Admiral Piett is standing there and Vader askes' where is that shuttle going" after that diolage it would have been just perfect to see Piett turn around only to be facing Boba head on as Piett has to take a step back with his mouth gaped remembering him from before, Fett maybe sporting brand new armor, or the old esb armor.

Boba then turns to Vader and says "I followed Skywalker as you instructed" (Indicating He didnt want to kill Luke as wasnt really working for Jabba but Vader the whole time and was waiting on him at Jabba's Palace) and hands him some kinda decive as vader looks at its screen then vader looks down like He does and says "Good, the Emperor will be most pleased, soon you will be wealthy beyond measure"

Boba "Just Kill Han solo, and we will call it even

Vader "As you wish"

end scene-

Later when the emperor says he knew they where coming he could have held up the same device. Would have been cool imo.

I have to agree with those of you who believe the jet pack
damage occured prior to the ROTJ storyline. The damaged
jet pack is so visually distinct that it had to be a deliberate
costuming decision to use it in every scene... not an error
or oversight. Are there any scenes where it's NOT damaged?

Only scene where you can see a damage free jet pack is when he is standing beside Jabba, Jabba says (Silly Jedi) or something and R2 rolls by and boba looks down at him the jet pack is perfect.

It also looks like the JP may even be damaged when he takes off from the sail barge to join the fight on the skiff.

It is blurry, but you can see a blob where the damage wouild be if it was there.

Maybe on of the screen cap guru's can help.

Braks can you help with this one???

Strange that "they" as in LFL ,would have Boba wearing a damaged jet pack before he has the damage occur. They obviously went through alot more work to make a new one and it isn't until the last scene with Boba that Han damages it. Wierd?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?

Honestly, I'm starting to think it was meant to be there before Han ever got to it.
I went through every scene that has Boba showing the back of his pack where you can see the damage and the only place it looks undamaged is in the spot Cal196 mentions above.

There appears to be a dark stripe on the pack just before Fett leaves the Sail Barge but I feel pretty confident in saying it is NOT the damaged pack. Perhaps a stunt pack with simulated damage... See for yourself:

Awesome grab!!!
Thanks!!
I tend to agree, it dosn't look damaged now, just simulated damage.

When you look at it on pause and it is soooo small, it looked like the damaged pack.

Thanks bud,
Lynn

Well with that new screen grab it looks pretty clear that the pack was supposed to be damaged long before Han hits it...which is why he's wearing the damaged pack in ROTJ SE but not ANH SE.

After reviewing the scenes on the DVD, I have concluded that Fett's jet pack is damaged when Nikto fires on the Skiff trying to smoke Luke, but instead hits close to Fett and knocks him over. Or at least that was the original intent in Jedi.

Right after Fett falls down from the Nikto blast, you can see a cloud of black smoke move from directly behind him and then over his helmet. Every subsequent scene shows the damaged pack. Prior to that scene in the OT version of Jedi, the jet pack is undamaged; the clearest view is when Fett notices R2 high-tailing it out of the Sail Barge.

So, it would appear that Han hits the now exposed "internals" of Fett's jet pack and causes a spark similar to jumpstarting a car, which causes the jet pack to ignite, and well, the rest is history...

So then that's George's way of explaining how Solo takes him out. With people complaining, he added that. Same thing he did with Jango. Always adding stuff.

I bet when the first three movies get ~visionized~ because they didnt have the technology :rolleyes Jango will last 5x longer in the arena.

I'm not following you, GL added what??

What Dan mentioned in his post, Boba Fett getting taken out by Han hitting Fetts pack while filming the ROTJ was filmed in the 80's before the SE's ever came out.

GL added nothing to that scene for the SE or DVD's.

My mistake. In reading Tylerdurden's post, I thought it said SE where it says OT. I thought he added that like he did the sparks for Jango's jet pack.

Or.. and i could be going out on a limb here... Maybye, just maybe they never expected the movie to be studied in detail, frame by frame by fans 20 odd years or so later...
