Collar does not match back armour ?

Hi all

I was following the guide on how to attach the collar to back armour thread

I tried to line mine up and it does not appear to meet ?

If i bend it a lot to the point it will nearly snap it meets but its wonky and makes a triangle

Both parts are Boba maker roughly 2 years old, both fibreglass versions .

What should i do ?

Even when aligned the centre is off:

So i taped one part up to know how much its out by:

and it was out by this much

Hey I had the same problem, and I asked on a post a few days ago, I got a good response.
Collar and backplate .. How do I attach a mis match?

But I was also thinking that my collar and back plate are Boba Maker as well and are also a few years old.
If you would like maybe we can take exact measurements of the area needed and if per chance we have pieces that fit each others pieces we can trade? If you wanna try that shoot me a message before I begin tweaking mine to match up perfectly!

Yeah my back armour is pre painted so I don't really want to modify it either as I then loose the awesome paint job

I will post up some measurements tommrow morning

btw I am uk based

i am cool with shipping to the UK, here are the measurements for my armor, I also have another collar piece that is what I think is a BM if these don't work.

collar piece:

each sides total width is 6.5 cm
the holes already drilled are spaced 3 cm apart and are 1.5 cm from the edge of the collar to the whole... If I could draw a diagram I would

backplate
is 6.5 cm long as well the problem that I am having is that it is pre drilled and spaced wider, and from where I mounted the collar it seems to put a lot of tension on it to connect them

Are you guys sure that's the original collar and back piece? The reason I state this is you should have the holes drilled through both pieces to have them connected. The collar specifically overlaps the back plate. Heck the two pieces even look like different shades of green above.

If you want to bend the fiberglass parts to match up, you can put the piece you want to reshape in the oven at about 250-275 for 5-10 minutes, it will make the fiberglass flexible enough to bend. I had to reshape some of my older fiberglass armor a few years ago to better fit my torso. So it can be reshaped. I'd have a bucket of cold water on hand to cool it quickly to hold the new shape.

I know my back piece was separate from my whole front part, I have armor that fits the back piece perfectly but it was sort of old and a few pieces cracked (including the collar armor) so I got some new stuff I found on the cargo hold, and while it is almost there but they just don't quite meet up

Both of mine are 7cm each ?

so its do do with the shape then ?

Can i have more details on this please how do i place it in the oven is that C of F ?

So normal oven gloves and bend into shape ?

Ok man here I go. It's not an exact science, I only did it once a few years ago. Heat your oven to 250-275 F, or 120-135 C. Place in the middle of the oven for even heating, on a baking sheet would probably work best. Let the fiberglass heat up for a good 5 minutes then check the pliability, return to oven if needed and recheck every minute or two until it's workable. You don't want it all floppy and loosing it's shape, just hot enough so you can bend it a little. And yes use regular gloves to bend onto place. Once you've reshaped it to where you want it dunk it into a bucket of water to reset the new bend. Keep in mind, you may damage the paint job, the paint may start to melt a little and smudge where you grab it or bend it so fair warning ahead of time depending on the paint you used. I used spray paint and did smudge mine a little. If you can, you may want to practice on another piece of fiberglass before tossing your armor in the oven. Like I said earlier I only did this once 4-5 years ago, it was very much a trial and error thing that happened to work for me. Good luck!

From the looks of your pics I would try heating the back plate and bending the shoulder areas in just slightly. Also you could try heating the area with a heat gun instead of the oven, just make sure you keep the gun moving so you get even heat over the area and don't burn the armor.
