Clear coats

I'm almost ready to clear coat over my final paint job on my gauntlets and I was wondering: Do you guys do most of your small damage (scuffs, tiny scrapes, etc.) before or after the clear coat? I'd imagine the clear coat will fill in some of this "micro damage" or lessen its appearance.

FYI, I'm using Rustoleum rattle cans w/ Testor touch up colors, and Testors Dullcoat for the final clear.

Thanks.

I haven't done much armor, but other things I paint, I do clear, weather, clear, maybe more weathering, clear again.
I use Mr. Hobby Top Coat (matte) for all my clear coats. The only problem with using this is that it doesn't take to a black wash very well (If you are doing one), Im guessing because it is a top coat. I use Mr. Hobby Clear coat if I want to do a wash.
For my Jet Pack I sprayed two final clear coats when finished.
