Chest armor utilizing magnet attachment method

The ones I linked are only 5.5lbs, you won't have any issues. The ones I used in the first post pulled the armor over itself and were way too strong. Those ones were 12lbs

I was looking at some that were 10 pound version. Is there an optimal placement you would recommend for the magnets? Also, have you considered sewing one set of magnets into pouches on either the vest or flight suit?

I would NOT use 10lb magnets, you're going to have trouble with them. 5-6 is the most you're going to need and it's strong enough to hold the armor to the fabric.
I put them in the corners of the armor like shown in the first post of this thread
You don't need to sew any magnets into pouches because they are strong enough to hold the armor through the material.... it's kind of pointless actually because you want to be able to move the armor around and adjust it. Having them in pouches will limit your ability to do that. Not to mention that's a ton of work

Hmm,that is a good point about the pockets. I didn't even think about needing to move them around. One more reason why I am grateful that I found this thread.

Hey guys,

I am looking at doing this with my armor, but I was wondering what to do with the center most chest armor piece? Did you use magnets on this or velcro?

RDK, did you use more of the 5lb magnets then you did the bigger ones. My pilot math tells me that 2 5lb magnets would be just as strong as 1 10 lb magnet. So guys who are worried about trooping could if nessisary, just add a few more of the small ones without worrying about the over powering effect of the big ones.

Now this is usualy the point of my day when a flight test engineer tell me my math is wrong and calls me a meat servo.

Nope, I used the same amount of the 5lbs as I did of the bigger ones due to the sizes and shapes of the armor. It worked out perfectly.
You can try your method too though, let us know how it works out

just gotta keep credit and id cards clear.... or roomkey cards if your at a con. My wife used magnets on a Cammy costume that ruined our room card on several days of dragoncon
