Can anyone recommend a good jet pack maker

Want to buy a good jet pack. Talked with Boba maker (who's making my body armor) and he said it would take untill mid march for him to get one to me. Have tried to contact Rex at MLC but can seem to get a response. Can anyone recommend who makes a good pack. Want to buy soon (in the next week or so). Or does anyone know of anyone selling a good pack. Any info is greatly appreciated.
I'm kinda new and putting together my first outfit.
Thanks

Howdy Dragon! If you're lookin' for a :jet pack that's already completed (looks like you need one in 2 weeks), then there are probably two places to look:

The Cargo Hold
EBay

Every now and then, one may go up in The Cargo Hold ... just keep you eye on those threads. Usually you can find one on eBay, but no guarantee it's gonna be good. Usually if you're lookin' for a good :jet pack, you gotta wait like BM said you would. I've got one on order from him, and he quoted me about 3 1/2 months ETA. He is REALLY busy with orders right now.

GCMgamer sells lasercut kits. I not sure about the price but I'm sure it's good quality. You might want to look him up, since I'm not sure if I spelled his name right, or if I left something out.

You're close ... it's GCNgamer128. I think he stopped doing jet pack runs temporarily due to a computer crash.

But darn it ... I can't believe I didn't think of him off the top of my head. I'd suggest dropping him a PM inquiring as to when he'll start doing these again. He does really nice work!:cheers

There are lots of good scratch building threads in this section you might want to check out, if you have the time that is. If you are thinking about scratch building I would say get wizardoflight's plans. They come in PDF form and can be printed out and then traced on sintra sheets or garbage cans or old styrene signs or what have you.

Hey there guys

Yes, Jimmy BufFETT is right, my computer crashed and I lost the instructions on how to put the jet packs together *shakes fist*

Once I get another jet pack laser cut, I'll put it together again taking pictures along the way, but first I need a digital camera! Give me a month or two, I'll be really busy around this time because I'm filled with a few orders, and I need some school work to do.

I still make armour though, they weren't at all affected during the crash.

I would wait for the BM jet pack. If you don't mind me asking, why would you need it so soon? You could use the time you are waiting for it, to study ref pics, research and buy the correct paints, etc. Anyway, just a thought.
:)

what about goldenarmor? how does their jet pack rate? i saw some pics of one in esb colors, i thought it looked pretty good.

Well, GA was $ xxx versus $ xxx for BM , delivered. So, you get what you pay for. I have the GA and it's competent, see photos on this board. But if you're really into this, wait and invest in the BM. It's all a matter of money.

got a quick question what is an MLC? I have 2 built chassis. one is totally outfitted with those parts (thrusters, missle ect. but the chassis is hommade) It has taken me 9 months. what is the chance (and price?) I could replace it if I offer it up. I have a sturdy ESB

MLC is a maker who does fiberglass parts. His stuff is very good quality and light. I have bought 2 packs from him and would highly recommend him and his work to anyone. Contact bountys hunted here on the boards for contact info.

We normally don't post prices of the sellers in public..... :rolleyes

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. Everything is helpful.

It's not that I HAVE to have a JP soon. I would LIKE a JP soon, lol. I would like to get working on it. Looking to join the 501st and I need to have the whole outfit done before I can join. I have lots of stuff (parts)coming in. It's nice to be able to work on something while other stuff is drying, ect.

And On the time subject. I just have a hard time laying out all the money up front and having 3,4 even 5 month lead times. Just doesen't seem right. I mean It can be alot of cash (in the case of a BM jet pack). I work for a home improvement company and we can't tell people pay us and we'll be there in 4 months. I don't have a problem with giving a deposit or even 1/2 up front. But all seems a little tough. Also I have yet to have any piece come in on time It's always 3-4 weeks late.
Oh well when they make what I need I guess they can make the rules. And when they are the best at what they do, Then........
BM is making my armor, and my jumpsuit shold be here in a week or so.

so anyway.....
:cheers and thanks

Ruffkintoy makes a good looking FG jet pack. Tk7602 did a paint up on one this year.

yeah, i'm pretty happy with my pack...

this is the ruffkin pack. i don't know what his load is like, but i waited a couple of months for it.

it kills me waiting for stuff. i always want it RIGHT NOW! i've often paid extra for overnight shipping on things just to save those couple of days ;)

it seems like the JP is something that just takes time. it's pretty big and complicated, so i can see that.

Yup thats my problem too. Want everything right now. Once I make the decision I want to start.
Looking at Boba Makers site and looking at the details of how he made the molds and stuff, how intricate he is in making all the pieces, I can see why it is a long process. I'll probably go with him. and maybe try to pick up a cheaper one for the mean time.
:cheers

Gotta be careful with that temptation ... I've got the same problem. And I call it a "problem" because I think with me personally, it has gotten to that level. If there was something in the Cargo Hold or on eBay that was better quality than what I had at the time, I would jump on it in a heartbeat! And it has gotten to the point where I have gone through about 3 or 4 complete costumes! I have a painted ROTJ BM :jet pack ordered (ETA early January), and that will be my 5th :jet pack!!! I actually acquired my 4th a few weeks after I ordered my BM one because I didn't want to wait 4 months for a high-quality :jet pack.

Now that's not to say I'd advise you to avoid giving in to that temptation, I'm just sayin' it's gonna cost quite a bit! Hey, it says you're from Glen Burnie, MD ... I use to live in Baltimore City! Perhaps we'll meet up at some point the next time I am in MD.:cheers
