    CA Boots now cost $140

    Hey all,

Just got a reply to my eBay question... The folks at CA Boots have raised their price on Boba Fett boots from $100 to $140 via their eBay auctions.

The website still has them listed at $100, so I ordered my pair. FYI to those who may be planning to buy them. The price on the website may also go up.

I saw that too. I ordered a pair off of their site Saturday night and then saw the eBay price a little while later. Funny, their Darth Vader boots list for $75 on their website but have a BIN of $35.00 on eBay.

Yeah, I think I am the first sucker that bought them for $140, I am pretty mad. I thought it sounded higher then normal. When I checked into it at CAboots they still only cost $100. The manufatuer isnt planning to raise the price, so if the ebay reseller is saying this, hes lieing.

Well, the person who responded to my eBay question is the customer service person for CA Boots, so they have effectively raised the price, in at least one point of sale. She did say she wasn't sure if it was temporary or permanent, and directed me to the website to purchase.

I'm glad I knabbed mine at $100, too. Ordered a half size larger than I usually wear and they fit like a glove er...boot...I guess. Very comfy, I am going to hate taking black spray paint to them.

I agree, they can't sell the same boot in two different locations for different prices. They must think ebay users are nieve (it's a typo, I know, but the spell check could not find the correct word)

I would e-mail them explaining the situation, and ask if you could have a refund. Be polite! Don't get upset when you e-mail them, being polite can go a long way!

Its naive. Just remember that its Evian backwards. People are naive to pay for Evian. Somebody pointed this out to me years ago and it kind of stuck in my head all this time

Your post just made me realize that there is a spell-checker on the Reply to Thread. Thanks!

I went through the checkout on there site and it was only going to charge me $100 plus sales tax and shipping, that would have come two about $116.50... when you buy through there ebay store it directs you back to there site to pay, having been both a web designer and web master I know that takes deliberate effort two set up a seccond check out for that item. CAboots did mean to charge me $40 more. I wouldnt be sour about it if it were consistant. I contacted them and am awiating a responce. I will be asking for my $40 difference back. If they wont do that then I will ask for a complete refund and rebuy through there website. If that dosnt work... well... not sure... I will use the TK409 walkthrough and build em out of matchboxs and toothpicks...

Their action in this will really show what matters more to them...40 bucks now or future business. I bet if they get a few unfavorable reviews on this board it will put a "DENT" in their future sales on this model.

Its only because of this website and the people on it they look like they do. When CA first presented there boots they where leather, without a square toe and plain ****. Seems a shame they would hike them up $40 when they know basicaly people from this website are the ones ordering them. Thats what you get for being helpful these days.

It would be amazing that Mark Cheng could come back to the boots bussiness, and make his boots again ...

What would you recomend me to do... buy the Caboots ?? or wait for a future MC run ??? what would be the cleverest option ???

MC posted a little bit back that he has no future plans to make Boba boots.

    Soooo.... your options are:

    Buy from CA
Hope a used pair of MC's or JW's come up for sale
    Make your own
    Go barefoot....

Well, herd back from management and there solution was to fix the price on there website to match the $140 price tag, according to them the manufacturer raised the price so they had to do the same. Apparently Boba boots are made of crude oil! LOL

Oh well, not much I can do... it just sucks because the price difference would pay for boot toe spikes almost!

Re: CA Boots now cost $140

    well people

just don't buy them, first off, they are far too innaccurate to sell for $100.
At least for something that isn't complete.

It's not like a kit you pay $100 for and when you are done it's worth $250 because you assembled and painted it.

It's a pair of boots. That only fit people of your size.

Yeah, sure the spraypaint and weathering should cost you more than $10 to do, but do you want to pay $140 NOW for something that you still had to do the same amount of work to before? And have it still only be worth $150 if anything you REALLY liked came out?

Yeah, i hated my CAs, and my scratch builds off Ronin's thread are a million times better, and worthwhile since I got to make them with materials <$30, $20 being the base boot and sandle

I think there a good starter boot if you dont currently have the time to do a scratch build. I plan on scratch build in the future but for now... I am content with the CA boots. I do agree, if you can help it, dont buy from them, esspecialy now that they raised the price!!!

All in all there not bad, but some folks (the hard core fett heads) get bugged out by there inaccurate look. It just comes down to if you want to scratch build your own or not. I am so busy with helmets, armor and other things, I cant take on building my own shoes. Some day though.

yeah, it's all priorities. the closer to eye level it is, the more attention i pay to it.

since i'm not doing many boba fett roundhouse kicks, my shoes are pretty low on the list

funny side note about regular shoes... i was talking with a guest at the museum of science troop i was at this weekend about shoes, since she was wearing the same boots that i have:

her comment was "it's funny that your fett shoes actually seem MORE practical than what you'll put on later"

and then it got me thinking that the toe-kicks on the new rocks could easily be modded to have some boba spike action going on!

Well my next project for myself after I finish my predator outfit, is the all black custom that I saw on another thread.I love that look, and i will change a few things to satisfy my taste. No fett boots required, haha I can just go with some used black boots.
I think the black fett looks awesome next to vader.

So, I still have no boots...
and I sure dont want o pay $140 for them!

    any suggestions? anyone?

I was looking on the Converse web site you can actually create your own shoes... exactly to the colors you want... I was playing around with it and you can make shes that are really darn close to Fett colors (without the side black parts).

How close do you think the converse shoes come to Boba's if I use them as a base?

Speaking of CA Boots, has anyone else had problems with their customer service? When I ordered a pair, I got them a half-size larger than my normal shoes, but that turned out to be too big. So I emailed them and a couple weeks later they finally gave me an RA number, so I sent them back to exchange them. When the new pair came, the right one was the size I needed, but the left one was still a half size too large. So I emailed them again, and a few more weeks later I got a UPS label emailed to me. So I've sent them back again, but am still awaiting a pair in the correct size. It just seems to me that their customer service department kind of takes their time when dealing with people.

******!! I waited and waited and waited, should have just gone and bit the bullet a couple of months ago. No way I'm paying $140.00 for them now. Time to scratch build.

Well I ordered mine a couple of months back. They ran a bit big, and there was two different types of material used on the two shoes. Making it very obvious. Normally I would have been 'whatever' but I thought 'screw that I paid 100.00 for this!" SO I went to their website and requested a 'refund' I got the RA number from the refund number on my refund request. Sent it back to them via priority 2 days later. Funny thing is the day I send them back the wrong boots I get the right boots in the mail! I hadn't even sent out the ****** ones and here the new ones were comming. It just cost me 10.00 extra for the refund process, which I don't think they ever refunded me, but I am just happy I got my boots.

So yes their customer service is a bit up and down. But if you call them there might be a better level of communication. Esp. if you get that person name as a contact.

Re: CA Boots now cost $140

Well this is a bummer. Like many here I waited to get a deal. Since ca is not an option for me now, I looked at Starfortress. Now i know they have a bad rep,but the boots they offer have a metal toe spike and they cost around the same now. If i had bought the ca's i would need to alter the look too and purchase the spikes later. What do you guys think? should i buy starfortress and weather them? it seems cheaper and requires the same effort in making them look good.

You order from Starfortress, you may never get your product.

How about a boycott of caboots until the price is lowered? For one, I don't think the boots were even worth the $100 they charged before.

I can see 10-15 $ but 45% of the total old boot cost?

Sure has, this was a long time ago, when I was doing a Biker Scout. Before there were great resources like this forum and others, and ebay for that matter. (ebay was around but didnt offer props like that)

Search this forum and you will find other examples.

This guy does some awesome boots.Very pricey but awesome!!I am astounded by the kiss costumes.Very ,Very cool.I grew up listening to KISS.
I would imagine that his renditions would probably be double what CA charges, or more.

I already asked MotorCowboy to make Fett boots - he says he wont.
Bummer too - his other boots are so nice... I bet he would make some really nice Fett boots!
I told him there is def. a market out there for 'em!

Yeah, I don't get it about MotorCowboy not being interested in the Fett boots. He's already got the ankle high ST boots, so you figure it's a no brainer.

    Always worth an ask.

and for ****-near 100% accuracy I would pay 140! No problem!

my guess is it's the materials...

if he made them in leather, no-one would want them (inaccurate). making them in canvas would be a whole different world from most of the other stuff he does.

I'd say out of the material they used, they were worth $30 shipped.

    *blink*

    *blink*

a pair of chuck taylors at the mall costs more than that.

i can't remember the last time i've bought a pair of decent boots that was less than $100.

ah well, to each his own. when i finally wear out my existing caboots fetts, i'll probably get another pair. unless of course a nice set of cheng boots in my size comes up somewhere.

of course, those usually sell for $200+, and the materials probably only cost $50...

    basically.

    i'm one for it.

some of these other people don't seem to mind throwing away the money,

    c'mon people. $100-->$140?

i can see a slight increase, okay. maybe the material cost went up....but ENOUGH to charge another $40 to make up for it

I owned a pair for a week, maybe i got a bad pair, because a lot of people on here think they are a gift from God. all i know is the heel couldn't support my weight as i felt unbalanced the whole time wearing them, and i'm not a big person. I'm only 183. and on here we have Fetts of all shapes and sizes

specialty items are always expensive than common ones.

i've been involved in the goth/industrial/fetish type club scene for years... people will regularly spend $500 on a rubber dress, or $300 on some nice big stompy boots. i've had friends drop a grand on an outfit to wear out clubbing 2-3 times. it's the same thing... if you want something that few other people want, you pay a lot more for it.

i think that's what confuses me so much about when people expect prop/costume/replica items to be so reasonably priced. if they were selling a million pairs of fett boots, they'd be $30. if they sell 100 a year, they have to charge more $$ to make it worth doing. i'd rather see the price go up than the product go away.

maybe you did get a bad pair. mine fit and feel like comfortable sneakers, even with 2" lifts inside. to date, the longest continuous distance i've walked in them was a 2.5 mile autism research walk.

last weekend i had them on for around 6 hours straight at one point, then a few hours off, followed by more time in them.

in general, i think they are a good product, and i've yet to see a well constructed fett boot available for less. or even comparable.

I do love my CA boots, I got a great pair, and like TK-7602 I wear the constantly. Kids at school say, "*** are those?" In response. "Those are my Boba Fett boots."

How often do their listings for these sell on eBay? The ones I've followed never sold. Has there been a sudden increase in demand for these lately or a supply shock in the materials required to build these? If both of the answers are "no," well then

I'm up for a petition. This almsot seems like price gauging.

It's a shame. I was going to buy one too, but had to wait for pay day. If they went back to $100, who would definantly buy one? If we made a list of people who would buy one, maybe they would be inclined to cut us a deal. Having a bunch of people gaurantee to buy rather than no one is strong case that may sway them. Interested anyone?

I'm up for signing a Petition, since I still need a pair of Fett Boots.

I find it wrong that they would raise the price so much, especially since from some of the comments it sounds like they aren't all that great, as far as quality goes!

I lucked out. I got a new pair of CA boots for $100 shipped and they had been weathered by the previous owner!

I love them and would buy another pair (even at $140) if I have to replace them.

It may just be a marketing scheme, make the price go up for a while make everyone want them but not want to buy them cuz of the price, then when they go back down to $100 it suddenly doesnt't sound so bad so everyone will buy them. As for me, I'm due for a new pair of shoes, in which case my old ones will become my Boba Fett boots.

My idea is making an interest list of atleast 10 people, so that i could show caboots. It's not really so much of a petition. I would be willing to contact them myself. If anyone is interested in taking part in this. Just send me your name and email address so i can compile them together. I'll tell them that we are willing to buy only if they give us this $100 price. The only condition is that we all must buy. If this doesn't convince them...well atleast we tried. (Also if this goes against the posting rules on thedentedhelmet. I apologize in advance and will delete this post at your request.)
